A Look Back at Jon Stewart's Greatest Gay Moments

“Stephen, I have to tell you, that story – what I heard of it – all sounds really gay.”

“Not gay, John. Aristocratic. It’s a different culture than ours.”

“And what’s different about it?”

“You know, mainly, how gay it is.”

It’s probably one of those “you had to be there” things, and lucky you! You can be.

Cheney's Boundaries

In case you were wondering why the Republican party’s opposition to gay civil liberties is a valid public policy issue, but asking how the Vice President reconciles that with his stated love and support of his lesbian daughter is an unforgivable intrusion into the family’s private life, Daily Show senior media critic John Oliver explains it in terms even Cheney’s new baby grandson and his two mommies can understand.

One question that’s not fit to ask? “Is she gay because the gay gene bursts through every corpuscle of Cheney’s blood?”

However, the funniest part of this segment is the follow-up analysis by Dick Gephardt’s out lesbian daughter Chrissy Gephardt, in which they consider the tough question, “Should children be raised by politicians?”

Not One F*g in My Family

The night after Stewart took Bill Bennett apart on the topic of gay marriage, he mentioned having forgotten to discuss the “awesome wholesomeness of Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe and his just beautiful family.” Inhofe showed a gigantic picture of his wife, children, and grandchildren during the senate debate on gay marriage, and announced proudly that never in the whole history of his family had there ever been a divorce or “homosexual relationship.”

“He’s a proud man,” commented Stewart. “A proud man. ‘Not one f*g in my family!’”
