Brothers & Sisters (4.07) "The Wig Party" Recap
We open with Justin trying to paw Rebecca, but she’s not having it, so maybe the new showrunners read our little recaps. But the fact that she’s not having it because she feels bad, smells like an annoying upcoming plot point. Speaking of annoyed, that's exactly what I am as we discover Scotty and Kevin discussing money. Scotty acts as if he doesn’t understand the basics of finances such as falling real estate prices and credit lines. It seems to fall back to “Don’t worry your pretty little head" Scotty we dealt with during the season where they got married. But I digress. To nutshell the scene for you, the boys basically realize they can’t use the loft to buy a baby because the real estate market sucks. I’m shocked out of being angry when Kevin runs out the door to be confronted by a masked man in tights, and squeals like a little girl. Scotty remains calm and tells Kevin to let his father in. It turns out Scotty and dear ol' dad were into cosplay with a third rate comic book hero (or a fake one that doesn’t require a licensing fee). It also turns out Dad’s without mom, since mom left dad.
I could give up coffee if I had this happen in the morning. Over at Chateau Nora, Kitty is going to consider alternative treatments to chemo, and that's going to be Kitty's storyline this ep. Obviously her decision freaks out Nora, who enlists the family to bully her into doing what Mama wants. There, I covered 20 minutes of runtime with that sentence.
Robert is almost Scotty’s dad is impressed with Scotty’s restaurant. Dazzlingly polished silverware aside, he won’t tell Scotty why he’s suddenly a single man. Instead, he discusses selling a rather extensive comic book collection. He is adamant his problems with Mama Wandell aren't related to Scotty and Scotty finally tells him about the baby, and the amount of money involved. Papa Wandell makes a fairly typical straight guy comment about the “hows” of two guys making a baby, but showing just how clever this show is getting, his comment isn't about straight guy ick, but rather Papa Wandell wanting to know if his bloodline is continuing, like any grandfather. It’s really sweet.
