Did You Use Television To Make the Family Yuletide Gay?

There was a decent selection of gay television last week.

The holidays are likely a time for family, whether it’s your biological family, or a family you chose. Whether across town or across the country, you probably ended up spending more time with family in the last week. And if you’re lucky, you had access to the TV remote at some point. So what did you watch?

Television is a great equalizer. Americans in particular feel very comfortable inviting these characters into their homes and making them friends, week after week. The only gays some people knew for years were Will Truman and Jack MacFarland. And many a person has used a television program as a bridge from their life to their family’s lives.

This holiday week actually offered a lot of gay television. We had Better Off Ted, Glee encore episodes, Modern Family, even RuPaul’s Drag Race and Absolutely Fabulous. Did you sit down in front of the tube and try and offer the family a glimpse into something gay besides the Yuletide?
