Introducing our Map of Gay TV Characters From Around the World!

Here at the AfterElton.com laboratories we're always busily trying to concoct new ways for you to access all of our great information about what's gay on television. And that's why we're happy to announce we've created an interactive map that let's you check out where gay and bisexual characters are on television all around the world. (For lesbian and female bisexual characters check out AfterEllen.com's map here.) 

Do you want to celebrate Octoberfest by checking out some German shows? Then just click on this link, zoom in on Europe, click on the TV icons in Germany and voila! You'll see the current German shows with gay and bisexual characters! (Please note the location of the icons isn't meant to denote the exact geographic spot where the show is located.) 

Look, it's Christian and Olli from Forbidden Love! And Roman and Deniz from All That Matters! On each show's entry you'll find links to all of the articles, reviews, and interviews we've written about each show. Cool, no?

Curious if there is anything gay in Africa? Then zoom in on the map and you'll find out that HBO's new series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency includes BK, a gay hairdresser in Botswana. Or how about something in Spain? Turns out there is a very popular show there called  Física o Química ("Physics or Chemistry") featuring Fer, a college student looking for same-sex love.

Heck, we've even got shows that aren't on any actual map including Battlestar Galactica and Kings, the first of which takes place in space (and 150,000 years ago it turns out) while the second is set in an alternative reality. 

You might even bookmark the interactive map so you have it handy the next time you're playing gay Trivial Pursuit! 

Please note: this map is only for shows currently airing original/new episodes with gay/bi characters! The map is not intended to reflect shows that had gay/bi characters in the past but don't now, or shows that are no longer running original episodes. It also doesn't include participants on reality shows.

And we also realize we might very well be missing some shows that we're either not aware of or that are new and we haven't yet added. In fact, we're actually looking for someone who would like to manage the map by adding new shows as they come on the air.

But please only suggest shows that are 1) scripted (not reality); and 2) currently airing new episodes with gay/bi characters (although they are still eligible if they are in-between seasons).
