The Summer Gay TV Viewing Guide

The Friday Night Project (here! TV)

Why It’s Gay: Regular co-host Alan Carr is gay.

When It’s On: Duh! Friday nights.

Alan Carr

The Great Gay Says: It’s Britain’s bawdy answer to Saturday Night Live, except it’s slightly gayer and not live. But don’t expect topical humor; the season being rerun on here! now is from 2006.

The Fashion Show (Bravo)

Why It’s Gay: As with previous design show seasons of other shows, all but one of the male contestants are gay.

When It’s On: The show debuts Thursday, May 7th at 10 PM.

The cast of Bravo's Fashion Show

The Great Gay Says: What do you do when your premiere show, Project Runway, leaves for another network? Well, why not create another show almost exactly like it? It’s true that Isaac Mizrahi judges contestants and doesn’t look much like Tim Gunn, but if you squint, everything else about this show is pretty much Project Runway. And the Great Gay guarantees everyone is going to be talking about someone named Merlin.

Millionaire Matchmaker (Bravo)

Why It’s Gay: In an upcoming episode, Patti Stanger tries to set up a gay millionaire.

When It’s On: The gay episode airs Thursday May 7th at 9 PM.

Patti Stanger

The Great Gay Says: Patti is trying too hard. If she really wants to branch out into the “gay” market (and it’s clear she does), she can start by not directly asking men if they’re “tops” or “bottoms.” That’s known as “too much information.”
