The Summer Gay TV Viewing Guide

Nurse Jackie (Showtime)

Why It’s Gay: Haaz Sleiman as Mo-Mo, a gay nurse.

When It’s On: The 12-episode season begins on Monday, June 8th at 10:30 PM.

The Great Gay Says: Another dark comedy along the lines of Weeds or Breaking Bad, starring The Sopranos Edie Falco as a strong-willed, but very flawed nurse. The pilot is intriguing, if a little slight.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo)

Why It’s Gay: Please.

When It’s On: The fifth season begins Monday June 8th at 10 PM.

The Great Gay Says: As Kathy would say, can we cut the crap? Kathy is no longer on the D-list. As Margaret Cho’s disappointing The Cho Show proved, these celebrity reality shows are a lot harder to do than they look – and this show has been the best of the lot for years now. Kathy is currently looking sleek and fabulous, and is absolutely at the top of her hilarious game. But a word of caution, Kathy: the higher you fly, the farther you have to fall!

Weeds (Showtime)

Why It’s Gay: Gay characters Sanjay (Maulik Pancholy) and Captain Roy Till (Jack Stehlin), who are both back.

The Great Gay Says: This show was on the verge of collapsing into self-parody – and then it pulled off that breathtaking last season finale. The Great Gay hasn’t seen any of the new episodes yet, but Roy is apparently back to avenge the death of his partner.
