1st Annual AfterElton.com Primetime Visibility Awards Winners
Here we are again back at the Friends of Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for The 1st Annual AfterElton.com Primetime Visibility Awards ceremony! As you can see, the stars are sparkling like the rhinestones on Liberace’s cape. That’s not surprising, since being acknowledged by gay culture is still the prerequisite to being recognized by the larger world.
That's right! You, beautiful readers, hold the success or failure of Hollywood in your perfectly manicured hands.
We've busily counted tens of thousands of votes in our wide array of categories and we’re here to present the awards to those you deemed most worthy. Not only were there some very close contests, there were a couple of surprises as well. Let's just say the writer of a certain science fiction show isn't as reviled as we thought.
We’ve decided to skip long speeches in favor of getting to the fabulous after parties – and we’re a little afraid Kanye is going to crash the ceremony and ruin everything for a certain young performer since he isn't Beyoncé.
For those of you who haven’t checked in with their social secretary about the party, our actual party starts Sunday, September 20, at 7:45 p.m. as we gather in AfterElton.com's virtual living room to cheer on our king, and their Master of Ceremonies, Neil Patrick Harris, as he hosts some small industry event called the Emmys or something. We’d love for you to join us.
With no further ado, let’s get to the first honoree.
Best Lead Actor
Sporting an absolutely irrepressible personality, John Barrowman managed to ride the publicity for Children of Earth to barely come out on top of Neil Patrick Harris, in a charming reversal of the Hot 100 results.
Based on our interviews with the star, we’re fairly sure he’d make some joke about enjoying a good flip-flop. Despite all of our recent complaints about the Captain Jack’s irresponsible behavior resulting in multiple deaths, you did love the portrayal of the material, it seems.
While we don’t know the next time that Captain Jack will visit our screens on Torchwood, it seems a safe bet that we’ll soon be able to enjoy this singing/dancing/acting omnipresent star on our screens again in something else almost as interesting.
