The AfterElton.com Summer TV Guide

Yep, it’s that time of year.

No, not the time to sip daiquiris alongside the pool or go catch some cool waves at the beach. It’s the time of year to watch summer television!

Truthfully, with most of broadcast television in reruns, it’s mostly cable and reality show offerings. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t something of interest to viewers of gay-related programming.

What’s worth watching this summer? The Great Gay is here to help you decide!

Who is the Great Gay is, you ask? Why, as always, I’m the collective wisdom of all who toil here at AfterElton.com, the sum total of years of endless, stupefying television viewing!

Okay, it’s mostly just me blathering on, with the others yelling at me whenever I get something wrong.

Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family)

Why It’s Gay: Gay Griffin and that chick from Pretty in Pink.

When It’s On: The show returns for its third season on June 7th and airs Mondays at 8 PM on ABC Family.

The Great Gay Says: Griffin’s storyline is apparently beefed up this season, and didn’t Molly Ringwald just do some kind of make-over?

Beautiful People (Logo)

Why It’s Gay: Two “artistic” boys in the early 1990s dream of escaping their dreary suburban homes to go live among London’s movers-and-shakers – but learn their families are “beautiful people” too, in their own ways.

When It’s On: The second season begins June 12th and airs Saturday nights at 10 PM on Logo.

The Great Gay Says: This idiosyncratic UK import has developed a cultish fan following – for good reason.
