"Private Practice" Recap: "You Can Be Happy and Normal and Gay"

For the second week in a row ABC's Private Practice dealt with issues relating to the GLBT community. In last week's episode, Darryl Stephens played a transgender woman and this week Rockmond Dunbar played Jacob, a closeted man who accidentally outs himself when he has a car accident with a male prostitute in the car.

Rather than just outing Jacob to his wife Angela, Dr. Wilder (Tim Daly) first tries to get Jacob to admit the truth. Jacob says it's a lie and having sex with other men "is disgusting.

After Dr. Wilder tries several times to get Jacob to admit he has sex with man, he finally tells Jacob he's HIV positive. Since he and his wife are actively trying to have a baby, this means his wife is at even higher risk for contracting HIV. As you can see in the following clip, Jacob finally acknowledges the truth.

While Dr. Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) seems to have some sort off issue with Jacob, both Dr. Wilder and Dr. Turner (Amy Brennerman) are not only not judgmental, they are supportive.
