Homicide: Life on the Streets - Timothy Bayliss

Timothy Bayliss (Kyle Secor)
Show:
Homicide: Life on the Streets
Year Introduced: 1993

Kyle Secor played Timothy Bayliss

Bio: Tim Bayliss is a troubled detective for the Baltimore City Police Department's homicide unit. Sexually abused as a child, he often seemed conflicted about his sexuality. In later seasons, he experimented with bisexuality, but did not formally come out until the final season. A cross-over character on Law & Order: SVU later strongly implied that Bayliss committed suicide.

Significance: Bayliss was a complex character that never fully embraced his sexuality. In fact, in the seventh and final season, even after he came out, he stressed that he wasn't gay and didn't want to be considered a "crusader." NBC was reportedly uncomfortable with this treatment of his sexuality.
