Gays of our Lives (January 12, 2010)

This week, in GOOL THEATER, Lucas has a new man on the Dutch version of Good Times, Bad Times. Yay! But will it be enough to make him forget his feelings for Noud? Plus, Aaron’s unnerving encounter with a man has him scrambling to prove he’s not gay on Emmerdale, Christian struggles to get over Syed’s decision to marry Amira on EastEnders and Luke and Noah’s new year starts off horribly on As the World Turns. In GOOL SCOOPS AND SPOILERS, Kyle comes to believe that Sky is the father of Stacy’s baby on One Life to Live. But is he about to find out that his boyfriend Oliver is the actual baby daddy? Meanwhile on EastEnders, Christian and Zainab continue their war in the wake of the revelation that Syed is gay. GOOL THEATER – There was so much I didn’t like this week, but there were a few roses among the thorns. Very few.

Emmerdale

It’s funny… I know that Aaron is using Holly and it’s wrong, but she is such an unappealing character that I have a hard time feeling sorry for her. It’s not that I’m cheering her getting hurt, I’m just not really all that interested in how all this will affect her. She’s kind of an afterthought and I don’t think that’s how the writers intended it. No, it’s not Holly’s story, but we should feel more for her than indifference.

The most interesting angle to me is the friendship between Aaron and Adam… that’s the most prominent relationship and the one I’m most interested in. I’m honestly not sure what Adam’s real feelings for Aaron are because it’s played with ambiguity. Sure, Adam is concerned for his sister, but sometimes he seems jealous as well, much like we know Aaron is jealous of any girl Adam is with. I don’t know if the actor means to play it that way or it’s in the writing, but that’s how it comes across.

Aaron’s desperation to stay in the closet is becoming more obvious…
