GOOL THEATER

As The World Turns

What started as a promising storyline has quickly gone south. While what is going to happen with Reid and Luke is still a question mark and their dynamic remains the best thing about the plot, the foundation this story is built on is ridiculous. I’m just stupefied by the fact that Luke and Noah are actually going to break up because Reid won’t perform the surgery otherwise.

What Luke and Noah do when they’re not in the hospital is none of Reid’s concern. Telling them they can’t be around each other even when not in his presence makes no logical sense and is simply a pathetic way by the writers to create forced angst between them. It also gives the show an excuse to yet again avoid letting this gay couple demonstrate any physical affection.

Sure, the story started off good, but this is ATWT,
so it was bound to go off the rails at some point.

But the most ridiculous aspect is that Luke got Reid here via blackmail, telling Reid that if he didn’t come to see Noah he’d reveal Reid’s dark secrets. So why isn’t Luke using that to force Reid to do the surgery? Do the writers really think we forgot that, even if Luke inexplicably has? Argh!

As for the Damian storyline, I’m liking it as I’ve always loved Luke’s complicated relationship with his bio-dad. But could we get Luke out of those drab slacks and ugly sweaters? And do something with his hair! If you can’t fix the bad writing, at least fix that.

One Life To Live

After my disappointment with this show a couple of weeks ago, these latest episodes renewed my faith in One Life to Live.
