Gays of our Lives (April 06, 2009)As the story wore on, building to the New Year’s Eve party, I grew more disenchanted. The events at the party truly made no sense. JP and Gilles show up at Clara’s brothers’ house, seemingly so much the couple and Clara sees them. So where’s the fighting, the uneasy moments, the bitchy barbs? These people betrayed and devastated each other. Instead, they start dancing? Huh?
Exactly what do these
people have to dance about? As much as it makes no sense, I can see why the writers are doing what they are doing. Given how the clip closed, I think I know exactly how this is going to end. And if my suspicions are correct, I’m going to be disappointed by that as well. I just feel so let down by this series’ final episodes, especially after loving so much all that had come before. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION
Hey, I’m loving Noah.
Yep, surprised me too….
It’s no secret I’ve never cared for the character, finding him a colorless and somewhat bland partner for the always interesting Luke Snyder. But in the past few weeks, Noah has shown some depth that have me thinking he’s more than just a pretty face. And even better, Jake Silbermann is turning in some solid performances. And that makes this fantastic storyline even better.
Even funnier were the ensuing events between Mickey and one of Carl’s legions of former mattress partners. But how about some scenes between Mickey and Ian? Their relationship is one of my favorites on this show. GOOL SCOOPS AND SPOILERS Will Noah’s ‘World’ keep ‘Turn’- ing after he kisses goth hottie Zac? Plus, the debut of cop drama Southland introduces a new gay, All That Matters wonders who bashed the gay-basher, Ravi responds to a brutal racial attack in Hollyoaks – and more! As The World Turns - From the
mystery surrounding Damian’s return to the snappy introduction of
quasi-incestuous twins Zac and Zoe to the ever strengthening bond between gay
lovers Luke and Noah, last week was a particularly enjoyable one in Oakdale.
But I must take special note of something rather surprising: I’m actually
starting to like Noah Mayer!
United States of Tara
– The season finale didn’t so much end on a cliffhanger as set up stories
for next season. While that meant the episode wasn’t particularly exciting in
and of itself, it did at least provide somewhat of a resolution to Marshall’s
conflict with his mother over her having made out with Jason – although I found
that particular resolution a little too neat and tidy, an overall problem with
this series. But I did enjoy the intriguing reveal about the cause of Tara’s DID, which will undoubtedly propel next season’s
plots.
Shameless - Ever since Mickey
(Ciaran Griffiths) saw Carl in the shower in a previous episode, he can’t stop
thinking about him. In fact, Mickey’s infatuation led him to get Carl drunk and
feel him up. Yes, I know that such
acts are supposed to be deplorable, but this dark comedy puts such a unique and
twisted spin on things that it comes off as funny and Mickey somehow remains a
loveable doofus.
