Damn! I`m about to give up Desperate Housewives since last season SUCKED. BUT if John Barrowman joins the cast there is no way I`m gonna miss it!
Does it mean he might not return for next season of Torchwood though?
I have only ever watched snippets of the show b/c I've always found it like needles in my eyes boring (like Brothers and Sisters), but I would HAVE to start watching if John joined the cast. It's wierd too b/c I REALLY tried to watch b/c I love Dougray Scott, but it still sucked...then I tried when Gale Harold joined the cast, and I still couldnt! So, if and only if he became a new housewife, and NOT a cameo or guest housewife, could I actually be obligated to watch the show, or at least a whole episode, right?!
[Oh I can't write Kish kiss in my subject, that's a spoiler.. Sorry. Hope no-one read it. I changed it.]
I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to the Kish (Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis) story I can't bear it.. Well, almost, but I really like those guys! And good to know, that with the gay couples there are on TV, they are not the only gay guys in the show (Olli and Christian for instance do not seem to know any other gay guys - which is very odd) with the third guy showing up on One Life to Live (even though I don't think he'll stay that long).
Anyway, so I am looking forward to that kiss, but why do they have to have someone (especially Cristian) see it? I mean, the first kiss between Kish, couldn't it have been just intimate, loving and private. Their story will come out eventually, but to have their first kiss be seen by someone, is just too soapy for me (in that respect, Ollian's first and subsequent kisses were more intimate and thus erotic).
Anyway too, I hope that with Kish getting together - finally! - that we'll see both these characters smile more! It's so depressing to never see them smile.. I'm guessing Fish will 'blossom' like Christian did on Verbotene Liebe, once he admits his love. I can't wait to see Fish smile and be all happy and warm and well.. I had read the out.com article by both (Brett Claywell and Scott Evans) yesterday already and it's a very very nice article! Brett Claywell especially seems to be a very eloquent and intelligent guy and very at ease with his character's story and his portrayal of Kyle.
I agree with everything you said about Christian and Syed (do all gay TV couples have a Christian, Oliver, Jack/Jake, Luke or Scotty in them? Lol!) and Christian's gay-bashing. Although I know it's necessary to show that this still happens (case in point (and worse) with what happened in Tel Aviv..), but for their story to evolve and to blossom, this was a part of the story that really stunk. I did not want Christian to fight back though, but the whole bashing story was heavy and there were other ways to have Syed 'come back' to Christian and to his senses.. In any case both actors act extremely well - I am very impressed by Marc Elliott (playing Syed)! I just hope they will show more scenes were both are intimate. 'Cause for now it seems that they have slept together twice already, but we only hardly saw a kiss (as a cliffhanger no less, so, cut short .. as usual..). That's why I also hope that Kish's kiss will not be a cliffhanger and I had hoped that they would be able to kiss in private, with nobody glancing.. (typical) - at least for their first kiss.
What's the squish name for Christian and Syed, btw? I have seen Chryed in YouTube comments. What about Syian? Or Chred? Or Chrissy? Lol!
kiss - because "they have a complex past" which I assume is a lot more than merely kissing in the frat. Hey no one saw Nukes first kiss and for seems like years no one has actually seen them kiss again. Pleaser correct me - have they ever kissed in front of anyone on the show?
And although Y&R totally tanked on it's 2 potentially gay s/ls at least someone saw Rafe and Adam kissing though absolutely nothing came of it and THAT is where they really tanked!
Nuke kissed a couple times (quickly) in front of Ameera like hello and goodbye
Nuke kissed in the middle of Java many times (with customers present, other Java workers and with Jade present and with the Z-Twins present). Jade even teased them about giving her a sugar high.
Nuke kissed in Olde Town with Jade present and Casey present (the day they first had sex). There were also passersby walking around.
Nuke also kissed on that bench in Olde Town where Maddie saw them right before Christmas
Damien saw them kissing in the doorway of Luke's hospital room after Luke was hit by the car.
Luke kissed Noah goodbye in front of Lilly, Holden, Brian and Lucinda (I think Lily's seen them kiss before as well)
Those were in no particular order and I think there are other examples but I can't think of them right now.
It was right after Noah broke up with Maddie and she pretended they were still together in front of his father so that his father could go out of town and Noah would have time to think about how he would come out to him
Noah, feeling safe, goes to the studio, flirts with Luke, and kisses him. Lo and behold, Colonel Mayer comes waltzing into the studio and sees them...
I think the poll question "Who should Roman be with?" should include a fourth choice: d) both Deniz and Axel. Why should he have to limit himself? My imagination certainly isn't limiting itself!
Even though we rarely see it, I've always liked the relationship between Dusty and Noah. Dusty is really the only friend Noah has on the show who doesn't relate to Noah as "Luke's boyfriend." Dusty also comes across as less smotheringly patronizing with Noah than he usually does with his love interests. They have a nice big/little brother dynamic I wish would play out more often.
Okay, let me change this to something meaningful, instead of just saying "Double Post."
I'm still enjoying the Adam storyline. I'm just thinking of Rafe as a bit player in it, instead of a character with a story in his own right. The gaslighting/ evil Adam storyline as a whole is still turning along nicely.
What was the point of him being with Rafe? The story, I mean. The upshot was Victor saying Adam was gay and he was fine with it, and Adam squirming. And why do they have Adam in one episode saying he never meant to hurt Ashley, and in another torturing her and clearly enjoying it? And why is it that Adam continues to not directly hurt the people who hurt him? None of this really affects Victor. Ashley is disposable to him.
Anthony: Great DOOL as usual. I can't believe that you are complaining that the Luke-Noah-Mason storyline is moving too slowly. Give the writers time...they're dealing with daytime's premier gay couple. As evidence, the couple's first kiss now has over 2 million hits on You-tube. Also, I heard that the "terrible" Phillip-Nina-Chance storyline brought over 330,000 new viewers to Y and R last week. My only real problem with the Phillip rising from the dead storyline is that it probably prevents a Drucilla Winters rising from the dead story. By the way, I'm still waiting for the Maddie returns with Noah's baby storyline on ATWT.
I'm not complaining about the pace of the storyline. It's good to have a story move at a slow pace on a show that usually rushes through everything and misses half the beats along the way. My problem is that we're not seeing the beats play out on the screen and I don't want the show to tell me that there are all these relationships being formed. I want to see them being formed. And don't want to only hear from Luke about not being able to spend time with Noah. I'd like to see how Noah feels about it. Is he upset or does he not care since he's got a sexy new professor to chill with? Show me, don't tell me.
I think if the show could work out something with Victoria Rowell, they'd bring Dru back, damn the fact the just brought back Philllip. And the show should bring Dru back. They need her on the canvas and her return means all those black viewers they lost years ago would start watching again.
If Maddie came back with Noah's baby, it would only be completing a story the show probably planned on telling. They telegraphed Maddie's pregnancy right around the time the show revealed to viewers that Noah was gay. But they never followed through and fired the actress instead. I for one would have loved a little Mayer baby. I'd still love it!
The story needs a slow pace. Nobody will believe that Noah will felt for Mason out of the blue, so they need to work in their relationship. The problem is that with no screen time, there's no progression in their relationship, so it'll be imposible to believe that Noah feel something for Mason.
And i'm not so sure that Noah ends cheating on Luke, they probably have problems, and Noah probably have doubts, but i only can see a Noah-Mason thing, if Noah and Luke break up first. And there will be two posibilities then, Luke fighting for Noah, or simply Noah living Oakdale (because Noah and Mason don't have any other character link)
Baby Mayer is not a posibility anymore, Maddie was in Oakdale in december, so at least she had an elephant pregnancy, baby Mayer is not a posibility.
And i hope today's episode wasn't as bad as it seems on paper. I'm started to fed up of gays being jelous of girls, and gays flirting with girls, in the case of Christian and Olli at least they are bi, but in Nuke case, that's not a posibility. I think the writers want two upsets in one, Luke being upset with Damian thinking his bio dad wants to straighten up him again (that part probably works) and Noah being jelous, but that part will only work if Luke's new friend is a guy (even a straight guy).
At least the third in Fer and David storyline in Física o química will be a guy
..... Maddie could have had Noah's baby and gave it up for adoption so she could go to school and it wouldn't mess up Noah's life with Luke. So it's possible. Unlikely, but possible. The writers can make anything they want to happen.
Before Noah fans come screaming for my head upset because I'm saying mean things about their beloved Mayer (which has happened before, but oh well....) there are NO rumors about Maddie coming back with Noah's baby (though he'd be a toddler by now). It it is just mere speculation and wishful thinking. It is highly, highly unlikely to happen.
As for rumors about Jake leaving, they ARE floating around the net, but they are unfounded and baseless. AFAIK, Jake is not going anywhere. And for the record, Noah/Jake fans, while Noah is not my favorite character, I would not want to see him leaving Oakdale. I like him around just for the hotness factor.
Besides, I'm looking forward to Noah and Mason having *crossed fingers* a steamy affair this summer because I do like Mason and I want him to stick around for a good long time on the show.
i read about baby Mayer was on youtube, and it was a crazy fan that want that crazy things happen on the show (he added a heavy drug addiction to Luke and Noah ending being a prostitute). The story of baby Mayer has no sense, Maddie has more relationships than Noah (who was short, and even Noah claims a lot about sex, it wasn't exactly very passional). This is a soap an all could happen, but this is very unlikely because Maddie was las december on Oakdale.
About Jake leaving the show, i think it's just a senseless internet rumour. It was about Van too, when people know that he audditioned for other shows, but he clarifies in an interview that he doesn't leave so people calm down. With Jake the rumours seems more believable because Noah has any links in Oakdale but Luke, and people fear that if Noah cheat on Luke, he ends leaving Oakdale..
But Van and Jake are the poster boys for ATWT, they are the most popular actors and characters, and i don't think they have any intention to go. It's true that their popularity don't match with their limited air time, but i don't think that the rumours have any sense. I only hope Jake and Van find another job, because it's obvious that they have a lot of gaps in ATWT so they could do both things at the same time. And it could be good to have more options if ATWT ends being cancelled. They are very popular and i think they would find a job in another soap quite easily the problem is that they are very linked to their characters
he is so fu*&ing gorgeous. god i wish he plays for our team. and i love his facial expressions. almost as good as Thore (Christian Mann of VL)... almost... (nobody can beat thore's facial expressions - if only it would be of good use lately!!!!)
Kish is one damn fine hot couple and i am so glad that (so far) they have the best story and chemistry amongst all American Daytime Soap couples. i just wish they (OLTL writers) will not fuck it up. i hate to see the talents of brett and scott go to waste.
Isn't it the head writer of VL trasnferred to ATM? If that's the case then DeRo's relationship is in good hands!!! (while Ollian is suffering the consequences).... poor ollian - two beautiful talented actors playing wallflowers.
SPOILERS
For those who are interested, there's a preview up on Youtube for this week's OLTL. It features a bit of the upcoming Kish kiss at the end.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7WF27hzsKA
It's practically the only good scene from the soap though.. I hate that they go the predictable "I'm not gay, I'm hooking up with girls" route with Santi. It's obvious the guy is gay, but they are trying to pair him up with a girl named Anais. Typical soap writing, but oh well.. The writing has been both good and bad, I'll still watch though. I like this storyline even if it's frustrating at times, the guys are really cute too. I almost cried when Diego confessed his feelings for Santi to his mom, it was so emotional. You could really feel Diego's pain, and his mom was just great!
Santi was very distant in the last episode with Diego, I guess he can't deal with Diego being gay. It's kinda weird, because he didn't look that freaked out when Diego told him he was gay. Maybe he's just afraid his own feelings will surface now, I don't know.
Do you know if anyone is doing English subtitles or English translations of the dialogue for they gay characters on this show or is it just the brief recap in the description on the Youtube clips?
From this preview posted on youtube 8/13 looks like something could be happening in the Santi-Diego story this week? .. Need to brush up on my Spanish .. lol!
Great article Anthony as always! Because Kish wasn't on this week it was lacking for me only for that reason and your great talents. The Roman/Axel/Deniz storyline was really intersting though! Thanks for keeping us up to date.
I just watched the episode of EE that concluded with Christian being attacked. I have to say, I have a slightly different perspective on it than you might have, Anthony.
I do agree that I hate the idea of showing a gay man being victimized, and find it to be a lazy plot twist. However, in the context of the episode as shown, I didn't find Christian's non-reaction all that shocking.
He'd been emotionally devastated (once again) by Syed's vehement rejection, made all the worse by the fact that Christian and Ameera are becoming good friends and he HATES what this is doing to her, too. Then, he goes out, gets good and drunk and takes home a guy that appears for all intents and purposes to be a trick.
The guy turned on Christian in a very sudden and strange way, and Christian was only just registering what the guy was saying through his drunken fog when the guy nailed him in the face, knocking him out. He then proceeded to beat him while he was unconscious.
So, yeah, given a fair warning or time to prepare, there's NO WAY Christian wouldn't have defended himself (and likely won) but the guy caught him by surprise, knocked him out and THEN beat him.
I think the thing that disturbs me the most about this storyline is the utter lack of support Christian has. Jane should be in on this, so he has someone on his side. Too often Christian stands back and says nothing when Zainab or someone else makes horrible comments about being gay. And when he DOES stand up for himself, his defense is never all that strong.
For instance, Syed stated an argument that would TOTALLY ring true with Muslim gay men. He stated that it's not just about being true to yourself, but being true to your faith and the teachings of Allah. Christian could have had a solid debate on that, but his response was "Some rules are made to be broken" which even *I* chafed at. That's not gonna win over anyone.
Zainab suggested he look "less gay" if he comes to the party, and this was played for laughs instead of the outrageously inappropriate comment that it was. It's not the first time she's made such comments, but because we're supposed to LIKE Zainab and LAUGH at her character, it's never addressed with much effort.
All in all, I want Christian to stop being such a sadsack and start standing up for himself, and to get some support from the community and his family. Right now he's an island, and is treated like someone people TOLERATE, not like and respect.
I agree with your account of the beating. That's exactly what I saw and I totally understand why he made the decisions he made just afterwards.
The main problem I see is that what Christian and Syed do not only affects each of them individually and them as a possible couple but the lives of Amira, the family businesses of the Masoods and the family business of Jane and Ian. They are all so inexstricably financialy and socially linked that it's a nightmare to nagivate (beyond Syed's torturing himself and Christian)
The logical person to speak to would be Jane but that would put her in a horrible position and the Masoods are the financial backers for her and Ian's business plus Jane would definitely discourage Christian from being further involved with Syed because she can't stand to see him hurt.
Ronnie is useless so there's no point in even trying to talk to her about anything that isnt' ABOUT her.
It's a completey soapy mess (but I do love it).
Christian was very very forthright with Zainab on the day of the party for "Bashra?" and he often stands up for himself but again, it's not like he could just quit or never see the Masoods again.
His livelihood is tied to that family so his only recourse would be to leave the business (get bought I out) and start all over again at 37 or leave town.
Again, it's only going to get worse (don't want to spoil it if the last eppy you saw was him getting beaten)
I agree that he needs someone to talk to and confide in but I don't think he is intimidated at all by Zainab, I think he just picks his battles when she makes homophobic comments and right now he's so wracked with guilt/love-sickness that I'm not sure he's going to be able to maintain his composure for long.
For those who want to follow the storyline there are 2 channelsthat follow their storyline (possible more)
I would think there would be more fanfare for seeing the tragedy of Roman and Deniz finally be resolved, as if all would be right with the world once this was announced. Then again, I guess when the writers break our hearts the first time, its hard to believe in them whole-heartedly again. However, that beach snapshot is just so good! It makes me excited for what may transpire, just no more gay and switch ATM writers!
They have not left one stone unturned with bad stereotypes for gay men. Christian has gone through EVERY bad stereotype in only a year! The only one that is left is him trying to be straight.
I feel so sorry for the actors. This story has horrible pacing, the characters are forced to show any affection for each other offcamera, and the show is only doing this for shock value.
Eastenders has no heart anymore.
Damn it
Dude! I know right!

ANTHONY, Where is this coming from?
I ask because
(1) Where are the rumors that Maddie had Noah's baby coming from? Why would they want that? Why would Noah have to leave Oakdale if he had a kid?
(2) There's rumors that Jake is leaving the show for good and I (a) dont know if its true and (b) don't know why/where that's coming from either?!
What is going on?!

Looks like he is still smarting from Adam dumping his a$$ ;)
I keep waiting for spoilers that will give me hope that the stories on Y&R are going to get better, and so far....nada.
Maybe they are waiting for the kids to go back to school to show hot, sexy, man on man action.
BTW, I don't care how bad he is on ATWT, Grayson is f***ing hot!
Brett Claywell is so damn hot!!!!

Someone is doing English subs. He has only uploaded one clip though. But he promises to sub them all eventually.

How singularly innocent I look this morning.
EastEnders
Christian
