Gays of our Lives (September 09, 2009)Welcome to another edition of Gays of Our Lives. We’ve got plenty for you this week, starting with GOOL THEATER where we introduce the BBC series Doctors and Dr. Simon Bond, a gay physician. How will Doctors do under our critical microscope? Also, Oliver’s personal coming out drama continues on One Live to Live and is once again our PICK OF THE WEEK. But will As the World Turns avoid being this week’s pan (again)? Check it out and see. GOOL SCOOPS AND SPOILERS has the dish on a revealing development in the relationship between Noah and Mason on As the World Turns, the return of Lucas Sanders and the Netherlands’ Good Times, Bad Times, the introduction of the hot new gay on Melrose Place and Syed’s efforts to hide his affair with Christian on EastEnders. And in GOOL NEWSBEAT, in our Fall Preview of all the daytime soaps, find out what’s going to happen to two of soap’s hottest (well, only) gay love triangles: Luke, Noah and Mason on As the World Turns and Kyle, Nick and Oliver on One Life to Live. Just how far will things go between Noah and Mason? Who will Kyle choose to share his life with? We also preview fall happenings on Forbidden Love, All That Matters, Coronation Street and more. In other news, find out how the actors on All That Matters felt about filming steamy love scenes and we answer the question of whether The Young and the Restless is going to be doing actual gay storylines or not. All this and as always SNAPSHOTS and SOAP STUD OF THE WEEK!
TABLE OF CONTENTS GOOL THEATER PICK OF THE WEEK – One Live To Live One Life To Live gave us another glorious week of soap opera drama with out gay cop Oliver Fish dealing with both his personal and professional life. But as much as I enjoyed it, I do have a few complaints.
It’s not as if Oliver is suddenly out and proud and ready to march in the Llanview gay pride parade. In fact, he’d rather not be out of the closet, not be gay and still hates that he is. And it’s also not how television usually handles coming out stories. But it is realistic and it’s going to be a long, slow process for Oliver to finally be at peace with himself. I must admit, however, that as someone who is used to watching soaps where plots move at the speed of light (yes, mean you As The World Turns), I find myself getting a little impatient for things to get going (yes, I mean you the Oliver/Kyle/Nick triangle). Then I just remind myself that it’s not just the destination, but the journey that takes us there. Submitted by on Wed, 2009-09-09 06:58. |
