I don't think you have the right Matt Newton pictured. Becki Newton's brother was in the gay film "Poster Boy" and doesn't look like the guy you have pictured. I think the guy you have pictured is an Australian actor.
I don't really see a lot of chemistry between Syed and Christian. The lack of physical contact hurts (did you see last Friday's episode? 3 couples made out, but not this one!), but beyond that, Syed looks so miserable ALL THE TIME. He's always about to burst into tears. He's also extremely selfish and whiny. The relationship with Christian is all about plot and not about them whatsoever. It's extremely underdeveloped.
Speaking of that, what bothers me with Nick isn't that he's so shady, but he's also barely known to viewers. They want us to be involved in this story with Kyle, yet we barely know him, much less Nick, we've barely seen them together, and now suddenly Nick is written for people to dislike. It just makes me turn against the whole story, especially since Kyle and Oliver continue to barely have scenes together. Meanwhile, garbage like Todd/Tea/Blair and the endless stalker story continues to suck up airtime.
I don't think we're meant to care about Nick winning the battle for Kyle's heart. The scenes, the camera shots, the dialogue, the backstory...it's all predetermined.
I like Nick (the actor) a lot...at this point I want them to make him a balls to the wall, bat-shit crazy activist. Because right now him and this storyline are boring me. It's limping to the finish line of Kyle and Oliver ending up together. I can't wait for the tape to be broken and Oliver and Kyle moving on to their next adventure/trial.

Rushing into this gay marriage story without developing ANYTHING between Kyle/Nick OR Kyle/Oliver -- whose idea was that? This show has some of the most out of control writing around. And you know the next story with Oliver will just be all about Stacey, and who cares abotu that.
I wouldn't agree that Kyle and Oliver haven't had anything develop between them. I think ALL the development has been between them. Nick is only there to create a little diversion as well as allow the writers of the show to make a point. the problem, for me, is that that I think the writers have really dropped the ball here. They ahd a very interesting story going with Oliver and Kyle and their history. There was a lot of potential when Nick was introduced. This current marriage storyline is a head scratcher. I can't help but wonder why in the world Kyle would do this. In the OLTL world they have only been seeing each other for weeks. It just doesn't make sense.
It also makes no sense that nobody can talk any sense into Nick and Amelia...or Dorian for that matter.
I still like the show and the characters...I'm just anxious for this hump to pass.
I'm actually hoping the baby storyline will be much more interesting.

I've heard that, along with a gay love story, the writers have wanted to tackle the issue of gay marriage on the show so that was the genesis of the plot. Do I think they've handled it the best way. In a way. It's still playing out much, much better than I thought. I thought it would be a farce or preachy, but it's been none of those things. Then again, I think there are things they could have done better. Of course, you do have to ignore that the gay vote is so vital in small town Llanview, but this is a show where a rapist has women falling all over him, including his former victim who is someone obscessed with him so there you go.
In terms of Kyle, I'm sure they'll explain his motivation this week when the episodes finally air. And while on OLTL time they haven't been dating but a couple of weeks, the show acknowledges the passing of real time. Nick and Kyle met two months ago and last week a character referred to an incident taking place two months ago that happened around the time Nick and Kyle met.
Though, you have to ignore that Blair fell out of a window nearly two weeks ago.... but it's the same day in Llanview. It's that strange soap opera vortex.
They had months to really build up something between Kyle and Fish, but instead, they barely had scenes together, and instead we just kept hearing about how Kyle loved Fish, and how they had once been involved (with no flashbacks and very little expository dialogue to help us see their relationship). Fish's storyline was more of the typical soap coming out story, barely any involvement with Kyle. And now, they continue to barely have scenes together, only now, Kyle is marrying some shady guy for no apparent reason.
I don't really understand what they did with this story.

Since I'm pretty much loving ALL of One Life To Live (please, That Bitch Téa Delgado is riveting thanks The Great and Glorious Goddess Known to Mere Mortals as Florencia Lozano--I'd watch her read the phone book! And, yeah, even the stalker storyline is entertaining to me), I'll focus on Trauma this week.
I've watched the past two episodes and I'm very iffy about it. I don't really care for "procedural" dramas, especially when they tend to be bloody like this (tonight's opening sequence was particularly gruesome). And Cliff Curtis' Rabbit is an utterly annoying character.
So I'm impatiently awaiting the big reveal of the gay character; I know who it is and I'll try not to spoil it except to say that, in this regard, the show is doing this part right--he's very different from most gay characters on TV, very refreshing and I'm liking the actor a great deal. So, despite the squirm-worthy elements of the show, I'll keep watching.
The story with Todd is degrading, tiresome, she has no chemistry with him (he looks somewhat nauseous/bored around her), and has devolved into her mugging and going on about her secret daughter.
She was much more interesting without this loser, and without the halo, so, being OLTL, they had to make sure the female characters were as uninteresting as possible.
I do think this storyline is on far too much, but it is very popular with the fans and both sides have huge fanbases. I actually don't care who Todd winds up with (actually, I think both women should run away quickly), but I do love both actresses and enjoy watching them a lot.
As for Kyle/Nick/Oliver, I do think it could have been handled better,
but I'm still enjoying the story and I happen to like all three guys.

It's only in the last few weeks that it's actually picking up.
But that leads to this show's biggest problem which is that they have too far many stories and too many characters and there's really not enough airtime to go around to tell all the stories properly. All the stories suffer from this.

Shoot To Thrill: This starts Riley's current storyline where he asks a popular new girl (Fiona) to go out. they go on a date and who pops up? The buddy of his that he had been fooling around with and suddenly stopped calling. Fiona's gaydar pings harder than sub in a minefield.

But having watched the episode where Riley met that girl, I was unsure what her motivation for dating him was. She thought was gay, but is she going out with him because she liked him or because she wanted to prove he was gay. That was kind of left in the air, I thought.
And some of those younger guys are growing up very nicely. A lot seems to happen over a year it would seem!
I didn't get it either: at first, Fiona just seemed to be using Riley as a shield to keep other potential suitors away, then she seemed genuinely interested when they were hanging out together and towards the end, she confessed that she thought Riley was gay.
But I think you're right, now she's going out with him to prove that he is gay. Her brother's been the manipulative one on the show so far...I hope she doesn't follow in his footsteps.

Riley wants a girl as cover and what better cover than a new girl with popularity potential? She saw him as a score on two fronts...he's a total alpha around Degrassi and it stopped other guys from hitting on her.
The scene where he's on the date with Fiona and guy who Riley use to screw around with walked up and started talking to her was fantastic. Riley couldn't get her out of there quick enough. It's not an original scene, but I thought it was great. It was then that she put it all together. She had her suspicions but she is till not 100% sure.
I don't think she's out to prove he's gay...I think she's just interested in finding out of he really is.
Separately, I've read around the net much criticism about Degrassi telling a story that's been told to death...the common line is "Do we need another coming out story"? I think we do. There are still kids fighting the same struggle. I think it's good to see this story from the point of view from a high school athlete.

Problem is, YouTube has taken down the Carsten/Lenny channel so there's no way to post the clips online for the meantime but the translation continues. We're searching for other ways to make the clips available, but so far it's certain that they won't be uploaded to YouTube anymore (neither to DailyMotion, seeing as they're also starting to delete random files).
So far, Carsten has made a new friend (Dominik - very straight, though), whom he also came out to after they went to a strip club together (talk about awkward! *giggles*). Which seemed not to go too well at first but then Dominik came to his senses and it's shaping up to be a good friendship. *pets them*
Also, he has now a job at the Mocca, the café Lucy's and Lenny's mother owns - Lucy was the one who engineered it. Family connections, eh? *winks* The other waiter, Gregor, seems quite cute, too, so there's lots of eye candy. ;-)

I have mixed feeling about Trauma, I think the emergency sequences are interesting, some of them original, but I dont really care at all about a single character so far. Maybe when "you know who" is revealed next week I will start to, but it better be good because that would be just about the only reason to watch and the idea seems intriguing.
Im glad Marc is getting a guy this season and that they seem to want to develop Justin more, I just hope they get a chance to rap up everything if all the questioning after just one episode amounts to something.
I voted for Viki for a very simple reason. I think either could open up some interesting stories, but they've been doing very well by Dorian even before this storyline, and I believe they'll continue to find interesting things for her to do even if she loses the election. Viki, on the other hand, has been relegated to a supporting player in her family's storylines for quite a while before this election storyline, and I'm afraid we'll see more of the same if she loses.
I voted for Dorian, but now want to take it back. There is so much more to be mined from Vicki getting the mayorship, and Dorian scheming to bring her down. Dorian as mayor would not be anywhere near as much fun.

I'm so pleased for Jo and Thore starring in a movie. Nice to see their talent not being wasted on Rebecca's storyline or everybody elses on VL. They really are talented actors, as we have seen in the past and from last weeks eps, so it is nice to see them get noticed outside of VL. I guess they will have to take some time off the show to film. With a bit of luck they will run from Rebecca. Maybe the writers will have them both take a vacation to Ibiza for some rest and relaxation. That would make sense since they do the weekly Vlog to friends in Ibiza.

I do agree about Rich kids, poor parents. I want to defend the show, saying it's from South America, which isn't exactly known for being liberal. Than again, I'm sick and tired of the lack of affection. They showed one (lousy) kiss, why can't they show more kisses? They obviously didn't cut out their first kiss, so it can't be that bad? I wish they would talk more about their relationship. I too think it's weird they only talk with other people about it.. In last Friday's episode, closeted football stud, Riley Stavros, has found a "beard" with the new hot girl, Fiona. This time however, she's actually in on the fact that their relationship is fake, unlike with his previous attempts when dating rebounded Anya last season.
It's kinda like Marco and Ellie's season 2 faux-mance.
Frustrated from being constantly hit on, Fiona makes up a lie that she and Riley are dating. The lie turns into rumor and quickly spreads around school. Riley finds out and she tells him the truth. He decides to help her out (but really himself) by agreeing to keep up the facade. She's using him to repel other guys from hitting on her (aka Dave), and he is secretly using her to keep up his appearance that he is straight. The story takes a turn when they are hanging out and are confronted by "SoccerStud" (Riley's male fling in the woods from last season). By the end of the episode, Fiona tells her scheming older brother, Delcan (cute Chuck Bass wannabe), about her suspicions that Riley might be gay. How long can Riley keep his secret now that Degrassi's new kids, Declan and Fiona, are on to him?

I think Riley's story on the showis so interesting. We've never seen someone so deeply closeted on the Degrassi before. They build it up so that he seems to have more on the line than Paige or Marco from previous seasons. He goes as far as using steroids to overcompensate for his insecurities with his homosexuality. It's really good TV IMO.
i don't know how often you watch or if you only watch simons eps but all their gay (any) subplot characters are writen as matter of fact, there was one i hoped you would cover, about a homeless boy being abuse then provoking a hot headed police officer to shoot him dead. n the resolution was a day in the life - saw how he was being then felt sorry - n you can more than one crush.
gtst - i don't understand where you coming from in comparing lucas's mother issues with his potential dex issues. as far as i know his mother story arc was introductory n answered n resolved questions to do with the characters and their relationship n his character in the show, n never obvious or generic.
Well, Christian came out to his brother. Martin is in the mafia and nearly killed him. Then he almost commited suicide but Horacio got there in the nick of time to prevent him. They went out for a drink and talked. The day after we see Christian waking up on the couch in Horacio's apartment, they are about to eat breakfast. They have a (nearly) PERFECT moment, but no kiss :( Then we get another cute scene, they are about to kiss, but the phone rings and interrupt them :( Then they get into a fight and ugh..
They had TWO prefect opportunities to kiss! It's just awful, like the writers are doing it on purpose to annoy us!
I haven't really uploaded the storyline yet, just a few clips. I will try and upload the whole storyline.. The thing is though that I have finals coming up, so I have to concentrate on those. I didn't get it either: at first, Fiona just seemed to be using Riley as a shield to keep other potential suitors away, then she seemed genuinely interested when they were hanging out together and towards the end, she confessed that she thought Riley was gay.
But I think you're right, now she's going out with him to prove that he is gay. Her brother's been the manipulative one on the show so far...I hope she doesn't follow in his footsteps.

Degrassi's coming out storyline
I thought it played out like this.
Riley wants a girl as cover and what better cover than a new girl with popularity potential? She saw him as a score on two fronts...he's a total alpha around Degrassi and it stopped other guys from hitting on her.
The scene where he's on the date with Fiona and guy who Riley use to screw around with walked up and started talking to her was fantastic. Riley couldn't get her out of there quick enough. It's not an original scene, but I thought it was great. It was then that she put it all together. She had her suspicions but she is till not 100% sure.
I don't think she's out to prove he's gay...I think she's just interested in finding out of he really is.
Separately, I've read around the net much criticism about Degrassi telling a story that's been told to death...the common line is "Do we need another coming out story"? I think we do. There are still kids fighting the same struggle. I think it's good to see this story from the point of view from a high school athlete.

I thought Anthony was following the TGODT message board and thus would have the news, too, but it seems that he hasn't - anyway, here's the scoop:
Problem is, YouTube has taken down the Carsten/Lenny channel so there's no way to post the clips online for the meantime but the translation continues. We're searching for other ways to make the clips available, but so far it's certain that they won't be uploaded to YouTube anymore (neither to DailyMotion, seeing as they're also starting to delete random files).
So far, Carsten has made a new friend (Dominik - very straight, though), whom he also came out to after they went to a strip club together (talk about awkward! *giggles*). Which seemed not to go too well at first but then Dominik came to his senses and it's shaping up to be a good friendship. *pets them*
Also, he has now a job at the Mocca, the café Lucy's and Lenny's mother owns - Lucy was the one who engineered it. Family connections, eh? *winks* The other waiter, Gregor, seems quite cute, too, so there's lots of eye candy. ;-)
And he's now got a place to sleep, namely at the apartment of Lucy's boyfriend, Philipp. Which is also, incidentally, the home of Lenny's girlfriend as she's the twin sister of Philipp. Carsten should find another place to sleep real soon, because Emily's going to return next week from her holiday with Lenny. The fallout will be... interesting. *g*

Interesting bit of news about Thore and Jo, so now we know what happened to Stephany Powers.
I have mixed feeling about Trauma, I think the emergency sequences are interesting, some of them original, but I dont really care at all about a single character so far. Maybe when "you know who" is revealed next week I will start to, but it better be good because that would be just about the only reason to watch and the idea seems intriguing.
Im glad Marc is getting a guy this season and that they seem to want to develop Justin more, I just hope they get a chance to rap up everything if all the questioning after just one episode amounts to something.

I'm so pleased for Jo and Thore starring in a movie. Nice to see their talent not being wasted on Rebecca's storyline or everybody elses on VL. They really are talented actors, as we have seen in the past and from last weeks eps, so it is nice to see them get noticed outside of VL. I guess they will have to take some time off the show to film. With a bit of luck they will run from Rebecca. Maybe the writers will have them both take a vacation to Ibiza for some rest and relaxation. That would make sense since they do the weekly Vlog to friends in Ibiza.
I can't wait for Jo's calender to come out at the end of the year. I have no problem looking at that beautiful face for the next year. Jo is beyond hot...he is on fire!!

I do agree about Rich kids, poor parents. I want to defend the show, saying it's from South America, which isn't exactly known for being liberal. Than again, I'm sick and tired of the lack of affection. They showed one (lousy) kiss, why can't they show more kisses? They obviously didn't cut out their first kiss, so it can't be that bad? I wish they would talk more about their relationship. I too think it's weird they only talk with other people about it.. The truth is they are using Santi's paralysis as an excuse for them not getting together, and it sucks.

As for the answer to your second question. As The World Turns fans wondered that for a long, long time before the show started letting Luke and Noah kiss on a consistent basis. And even now their kisses are infrequent and lacking anything resembling passion.
But let's hope things improve for the boys on RKPP soon.

FOQ: Ok, I see. It all makes more sense now! lol. Well, the episode was really good, best Fervid episode ever IMO.
RKPP: I know ATWT used forever for them to kiss on a regular basis too, so I'm still hopeful. I mean, they did show their first (and only kiss thus far). It's not like they cut it out like in that Mexican soap. It was so annoying to watch that. Like, is a gay kiss really still that controversial in Mexico? Did they have to cut it? It's just so lame. But back to RKPP, I hope they get to be more affectionate and kiss more, and soon. They are over halfway through the soap already, and it would be awful to not see them act as boyfriends until the finale.

In last Friday's episode, closeted football stud, Riley Stavros, has found a "beard" with the new hot girl, Fiona. This time however, she's actually in on the fact that their relationship is fake, unlike with his previous attempts when dating rebounded Anya last season. It's kinda like Marco and Ellie's season 2 faux-mance.
Frustrated from being constantly hit on, Fiona makes up a lie that she and Riley are dating. The lie turns into rumor and quickly spreads around school. Riley finds out and she tells him the truth. He decides to help her out (but really himself) by agreeing to keep up the facade. She's using him to repel other guys from hitting on her (aka Dave), and he is secretly using her to keep up his appearance that he is straight. The story takes a turn when they are hanging out and are confronted by "SoccerStud" (Riley's male fling in the woods from last season). By the end of the episode, Fiona tells her scheming older brother, Delcan (cute Chuck Bass wannabe), about her suspicions that Riley might be gay. How long can Riley keep his secret now that Degrassi's new kids, Declan and Fiona, are on to him?
This was the episode's subplot, but is an important set up for Riley's upcoming two episodes. It's not a great recap, but I did my best. You guys can watch the episode online at the-n.com (US) or ctv.ca (Canada)

i don't know how often you watch or if you only watch simons eps but all their gay (any) subplot characters are writen as matter of fact, there was one i hoped you would cover, about a homeless boy being abuse then provoking a hot headed police officer to shoot him dead. n the resolution was a day in the life - saw how he was being then felt sorry - n you can more than one crush.
gtst - i don't understand where you coming from in comparing lucas's mother issues with his potential dex issues. as far as i know his mother story arc was introductory n answered n resolved questions to do with the characters and their relationship n his character in the show, n never obvious or generic.
Mas Sabe el Diablo - Christian and Horacio
Well, Christian came out to his brother. Martin is in the mafia and nearly killed him. Then he almost commited suicide but Horacio got there in the nick of time to prevent him. They went out for a drink and talked. The day after we see Christian waking up on the couch in Horacio's apartment, they are about to eat breakfast. They have a (nearly) PERFECT moment, but no kiss :( Then we get another cute scene, they are about to kiss, but the phone rings and interrupt them :( Then they get into a fight and ugh..
They had TWO prefect opportunities to kiss! It's just awful, like the writers are doing it on purpose to annoy us!
