Gays of our Lives (November 24, 2008)

Clara Sheller - Following the revelation that Clara only pretended to be pregnant, things not surprisingly go downhill between her and Gilles. JP tries to help, but he’s got his own problems. In between fleeting flings with Brad and Marc, he meets Pascal, a man living in his building. Pascal already has a lover named Denis – but why should a silly thing like that get in the way? JP embarks on an affair with Pascal, but it comes to a crashing halt when Clara interferes, setting off an ugly battle between the three men.

Meanwhile, Clara (who should be minding her own love life) decides to get her marriage back on track by telling her husband she really wants to have a baby. Gilles is foolish enough to believe her despite her track record of lying … until he finds her birth control pills.

Clara: "You might think you can make my husband happy,
but you can’t give him a baby either."

The light bulb finally going off in Gilles’ pretty head, he leaves his wife and gets his own place … just as JP is looking to escape from his triangular situation. The two men move in together and it isn’t long before they’re full-fledged lovers. However, Gilles is still married to Clara and she wants him back and this so can’t end well.

As The World Turns - Poor Luke Snyder – kicked out of school, dumped by his boyfriend, and now, kissed by his new step grandpa. Ewww… And next week it only gets worse. Luke is not going to have a happy Thanksgiving, especially with Brian continuing to pursue him and pushing him to get drunk again. But when Noah shows up for the holiday, is it because he’s coming back to Luke? 

Luke: Just think of all the people at this table who have slept together.
Noah: Actually, I can think of two who haven’t.
Luke: Yeah. [sigh]

Sadly, Noah makes it clear that he only came because Holden asked him and that things haven’t changed between the two teens.

Noah may not want to get back with Luke, but he does notice that there’s something going on between Luke and Brian, most notably Luke’s consistent hostility towards the man. Noah tells Luke that he needs to get his act together … and Luke lets his former boyfriend know who else in Oakdale he’s been kissing. The problem for Luke is that Noah does not believe him.

Every good gay needs his queer peer and it looks like Luke Snyder is getting his. Davida Williams has been cast as the new Jade Taylor, Luke’s cousin and BFF. The role was previously played by Elena Goode, who left the show over a year ago. While Jade and Luke were very close (she was the first person Luke told about his feelings for Noah), things didn’t start off well between them with Jade pretending to be Lily’s (Luke’s mom’s) niece so she could live in the lap of luxury.

When it was revealed that she was faking, Jade blackmailed Luke into pretending to be her boyfriend by threatening to expose that he was gay. Of course, it turned out that unbeknownst to them all, Luke and Jade were cousins, which makes that one kiss they had even ickier. Then again, in Oakdale you can sleep with your cousin – and anyone else you want – as long as they are the opposite sex, of course. Look for Jade to pop back up in Oakdale and into Luke’s already messed up life December 17^th.
