News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Gays of our Lives (November 24, 2008)

"It's an amazing character. I feature in a one-off episode where I play a late '60s radio DJ who's wired on drugs and booze - and he's got a gun. He's a completely over-the-top character. It's the best thing I've ever done - it's amazing. I've been filming all week on a boat."

Van Hansis

“I don't know where it will take him, but I think that Luke had to grow up and make mistakes, and had to do things that weren't good. In Oakdale, it seems like the people who do bad things are the most loved, like Paul or Carly, so I'm like, ’Hell, Luke can do whatever he wants!’ It's interesting, because Paul and Carly are very, very popular characters. And Dusty, too. Yet all three of them are often doing pretty sketchy things, amoral (immoral) things. So for Luke to start doing some of that, I find it very exciting.”

--Van Hansis on how he feels about Luke’s fall from grace on As the World Turns.

SOAP STUD OF THE WEEK

Stephen Uppal (Ravi Roy, Hollyoaks)

Why him? Because you’d take a chance on him … even with the whole he-likes-to-sleep-with-girls-too thing.

Ravi is unique in the world of soaps. He’s bisexual and he seems to have an equal yen for guys and girls. But even more is that he’s a rogue, a bit of a bad boy with a touch of mystery. Ravi works for one of the town’s criminals, covering up his crimes and making sure his boss (and he) stay out of jail. These qualities make him unpredictable, but you can’t wait to find out what (and who) he’ll do next. His taste in women is questionable given his attraction to Nancy, the girl with the worst dye job known to man, but his desire for Russ Owen says he’s got good taste in the fellas.

Then there are his dark, handsome looks and well, the body speaks for itself. (Don’t you love what it’s saying?) For all those reasons and more, he is our SOAP STUD OF THE WEEK.
