Thanks Anthony

Not much to say except - good work! - this was a real pleasure to read. Looking forward to next weeks installment.

Elena Goode

While I'm looking forward to seeing Jade again, and wish the new actress success in the role, I'm saddened that they either couldn't or didn't even bother to try to get Elena Goode back for the role. She was terrific, and her friendship with Van was key to Jade's chemistry with Luke.

Bloody Hell.

I live in the UK and i didn't even know that our soaps were this good!!! Anthony you have a great way of writing about the soaps that actually makes me want to watch them! EVen Hollyoaks and i haven't watched that in years (since Will Mellor was in it actually!!) And how sexy is that hollyoaks stud? I think i'll have to start watching Hollyoaks again!! James xx

haha...

The Sarah/Zoe thing on Hollyoaks cracks me up. i mean, i hope someone points out the hypocrisy seeing as Sarah was soooooo upset over Craig and John Paul.

...and what's with the "step" love all over the place? haha

Novinous's picture

You're so right !

And I can't decide if I like the idea of Sarah being with a girl or not.

Well actually I don't like that character at all, at first I didn't like her because of how she was dealing (and mostly crying) with Craig but then she never did anything interesting and was so mean to Elliot, I really don't like her. I dont really care about Zoe (although she's really cute) but the thought of them together is just stupid !

At least that means there will be a new storyline for Mike (Sarah's dad) eventually, when he finds out about this and who doesn't wanna see Mike on the screen ? He's so hot !

Is it just me

or does Gorka, the person on the left in the picture from Física o Química, look freakishly like Justin Timberlake in the face?
Dean's picture

Maybe a little

Maybe a little if Justin ever smiled....

Justin Timberlake

I hadn't noticed the resemblance when I first saw the picture, but when I look at it again I see what you're talking about. I've watched a few clips from that show, and I think the show is really well done.

Speaking of Justin Timberlake, did you see him on SNL this week? His riff on Weekend Update was simply brilliant. The way he pulled off that extended summary of what his guest hosting show would have been, without a single misstep, was astonishing.

Just a wish...

Ok, call me crazy, but was I the only one that had hoped that Niall (Barry Sloane) would have at least turned out to be bi/gay? Seriously, the chemistry between him and Kieron (Jake Hendriks) was at times undeniable, and the miniscule apartment tended to only highlight the notion.
Jon's picture

No, you're not

When Niall first showed up, Bryan Kirkwood suggested Niall would keep people guessing about whether he was straight or gay, but as often happens on Hollyoaks, that story was quickly forgotten. Niall is gorgeous and did have amazing chemistry with most of his male co-stars. I enjoyed the episodes where he would want around the flat in his underwear.

It's kind of sad that on Hollyoaks, a bi man almost always end up preferring women. And Spike, who is unabashedly gay, only gets a fleeting return.

EE and Corrie continue to disappoint

Christian continues to be a pathetic caricature, his stories revolving all around the highly unpleasant women in his life (his mother, Roxy), while his love life is limited to men we will be lucky to see for more than one episode. Remember how he was supposed to be groundbreaking and refreshing and all that? The problem with Anthony Cotton isn't the stories, although those don't help. The problem is he can't act, he's just cringeworthy. I wish they could write Sean out, and bring back Todd Grimshaw or his ex Karl. Or bring in a new gay character. Or Sean's gorgeous ex, Marcus.

Christian and Sean

... I agree about Christian.  He's pretty much being wasted as all he does is dither about Roxy and now his mother since she's in town.  I, quite frankly, don't know why he wanted her to stay given that she's mostly turned her nose up at him since she arrived.  It's a shame because the actor is talented and has loads of charisma.  He really needs a hot, hot love interest.

As for Sean, I personally don't get the character's appeal, but he is wildly popular in the UK it seems (both the character and actor) and Cotton has recieved several awards for his role as Sean.  I know he's been with the show for awhile, but I only started watching CS regularly around the time Violet got pregnant with his baby, which evolved into an absolutely horrid and offensive storyline.  I do hope this new story, whatever, improves upon that.  I actually stuck with the show not because of Sean, but because of David, who is the skeevy bad boy you can't help but love.

I'd love to see Todd come back.   His coming out and subsequent relationship with Karl was very well done.  The couple had chemistry and I hated the way it ended.

I like Corrie for several reasons

I appreciate the gentle humor (which you won't get on most American or even British soaps now), I like the multi-generational aspect, seeing Emily, Rita, Ken, who have been on the show for 35-50 years. I also like the hot daddy figures (Kevin Webster, Peter Barlow, Tony Gordon). I wish they were more racially diverse, but apparently that's always been an issue for them.

Sean used to be just a comic relief character, then Anthony Cotton was on a "soap stars sing" reality show and won, and became more popular. He also started to get more serious stories, like looking for his father, or the baby story. I think people started to lose interest in him and his acting has become very poor. He's still somewhat popular (probably the Mr. Humphires type of fan base), but they have to figure out how to write for him. I think they need to bring in another gay character to give the serious stories do.

EE used to be very groundbreaking in their gay storylines. Gays were allowed to have relationships, to have stories of their own. Christian is such a big step backwards. I think the only reason he's even still on the show is because a lot of female fans seem to admire his very muscular body. Everything about EE now is a facade. They claim to be diverse, but the only people who get storylines are middle-aged, white heterosexuals, most of whom have all the personality and appeal of a dried up carrot.

I enjoyed the first episode of Hollyoaks Later, for the most part. Did you?

Anthony D. Langford's picture

Yeah....

CS does have some hot guys.  I liked Liam; he was a favorite of mine.  Hate that he's gone now.

I don't know why Christian is still on the show.  They made a big deal about when he joined the cast, that he was a 'different' type of gay character, but it's really amounted to very little.  He's never really had a story of his own and certainly not a love interest.  It's just odd they would cast such a good looking, appealing actor and do nothing with him.  And I don't think (having seen what's coming up for the show) that he'll continue to be anything more than a adjunct for the women in his family and his friend, Roxy.

I haven't had the chance to watch the entire episode... I only saw the first 10 minutes or so.  I was glad to see Ravi in the opening credits.... somehow I had missed that he was going to be in the mini-series.  But I am intrigued.  If I have an initial problem is that Craig Dean has never been one of my favorite Hollyoaks characters.  I never, and still don't, get the fascination with him.  I definately was not a booster of the Jean-Paul/Craig match, especially as compared to Kieron, who I LOVED.  Still, the show looks interesting and I'm looking foward to watching it.

River City/David Paisley

David Paisley, who plays the heterosexual Rory on River City, is openly gay in real life and had two very well-known/controversial gay roles on Tinsel Town and Holby City. The Holby role had a hot hot hot kiss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRdmu58ODoY

Fisica O Quimica

I'm really loving Fisica O Quimica. Is this a weekly show or daily? And the actor who plays Fer is adorable. Do we know anything about him?
Anthony D. Langford's picture

Weekly..

.... it's a weekly show.
