News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Gays of our Lives (December 9, 2008)

But the highlight of the week on As the World Turns was the pair of scenes featuring Luke and Brian Wheatley (Laurence Lau). Luke’s anger, mixed with his sexual teasing of Brian, is starting to get to the older man … and the dude is about to crack. Look out! And special kudos to Billy Magnussen who, as Casey, is stealing scene after scene. Yes, Casey is one hot mess, but that’s what we love about him!

Clara ShellerAfter three years (both on screen and off), Clara Sheller is back with a new batch of episodes and a new cast, though the situation is the same as JP, Clara and Gilles continue to be too involved in each other’s lives.

Francois Vincentelli (Gilles), Patrick Mille (JP), and Zoe Felix (Clara)

And while the story may be the same, the chemistry between the leads isn’t, at least in the first episode. The cast, while very talented, doesn’t quite gel. And I’m not quite sure if the right decision was made in the casting of JP. Or maybe they just need time. Maybe I need time. Given the solid writing and the spirited acting by the players, I’m more than willing to wait and see it play out.

Física o Química – Fer and Gorka’s evolving relationship from enemies to friends continued to unfold and it’s been nice to watch these two very different teen boys mature and grow up just like in real life. And it was sweet to see Fer help a lovesick Gorka reunite with his girlfriend, with some very amusing (the foam party, the shower scene, the boys in the elevator) moments along the way.

Fer: Kissing straight boys is fine, but I want someone who knows what they’re doing…

Using the backdrop of the play the students were putting on was a nice touch. But as great as this has been to see, there are only a couple of episodes until the season finale and Fer has been involved in other peoples’ romances long enough. It’s time he tended to his own.

SPOILERS YOU CAN USE – BROTHERS & SISTERS, FORBIDDEN LOVE, GREEK, AND MORE!

Warning: Do not read if you don’t want to know possible major upcoming plot points!

"Don’t worry, we’re cousins … so you won’t have to marry me like those Nuke boys."

Forbidden Love - Gregor (Andreas Jancke) borrows money from a loan shark to get his helicopter and tries to hide that risky move from Christian (Thore Schölermann). Meanwhile, the Mann boys’ cousin Stella (Anne Wis) comes to visit. Best of all, Jo Weil is back on set and filming episodes set to air in January. The actor recently teased on his website that Olli is about to make an important decision.
