Glee "Tweet-peat," Video, and Cool Promos
The east coast of the U.S. is now about twenty four hours from the season premiere of Glee, and I couldn’t be more excited if I was in the show myself. Last week, I watched the pilot – twice. Once to relearn everything I'd forgotten, and then the second time during the live Tweet-peat, to follow along with the cast. And I learned a few things about the show I didn’t know before. First, Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, is actually pretty funny. Or else somebody did some writing for him that they didn’t do for anyone else. For example, upon seeing this:
Why do I think Rachel has a rough life? Chris and Cory Monteith (who plays Finn and Twitters under FRANKENTEEN) had these separate thoughts on the subject:
Taking a little pity on his tall, climbable costar, Chris tossed him an easy line … which Cory failed to catch:
During the discussion of the episode's shower scene in which the teacher realized he had to blackmail Finn into the Glee Club, this exchange happened:
Then I became slightly concerned about the show’s choice in casting Finn, as well as a background actor we have yet to see:
For those of you over the age of twelve, you may be unaware of Miley Cyrus' inappropriately aged 20-something ex-boyfriend Cory mentioned:
Justin Gaston - how could I miss him in a lockerroom scene? During the rival team's performance of Rehab which, in the earlier Tweet-Peat, we learned the dancers were from So You Think You Can Dance, and lip-synching and that:
As parting shots, Chris has dropped all his fans these notes as well:
But the real joy was suddenly discovering the serious social media campaign the network is running for the show. There’s the main Fox site. They covered the Tweet-peat with video and photos over on Facebook. And MySpace gives us this behind the scenes video: And finally you can get music videos for free over on iTunes (the link launches iTunes). Lea Michele’s Les Miz was vocally stunning, but the extended video for Gold Digger, sampled above, is prone to cause chair dancing. In case you’re at work, enjoy a few stills from the performance:
Mercedes brings it to the opening.
Have I mentioned I'm hot for teacher? But who wouldn't be?
Uh oh, looks like these kids are going to have trouble with dancing.
Finn may have trouble keeping the beat.
But teacher has skills.
And they may all get it together. Glee airs on Fox Wednesday, 09-09-09 @ 9 Submitted by on Tue, 2009-09-08 14:23. |

Clever promotion
I was interested...
...at first. Not so much anymore.
I enjoyed the pilot...but I wasn't excited by the gay characters...the uptight teen, as well as the closted teacher with the wandering hand and desire to bitch out retail help.
When they showed the pilot a few months ago I had a pretty negative reaction to the gay content...figured I'd rewatch the pilot to see if I changed my opinion and had pretty much the same reaction.
Also..."Gold Digger"? Really? I hope the music they pick will be alittle more current in the future.

GLEEFUL
Everything about this show makes me smile That little girl can sing her arse off. A lot of folks can scream and ride high notes but every note in that hook was spot on.
Damn. Very excited for the show and I might have to find a viewing party to partake.
Plus teacher's got mad flow. Word.
Consider me a Kurtsy!
was surprised.
Glee music [spoilers]
2005 isn't current enough? Rehab is from 2006. According to the Glee soundtrack listing (CD is scheduled for release in November), we can also expect covers of Defying Gravity (2003), No Air (2008), Take A Bow (2008), Bust Your Windows (2008), Taking Chances (2007), Hate On Me (2007) and Keep Holding On (2006).
Honestly...
...No, it's not current enough. Anything over a year has a little dust on it...in particular if it was over played on the radio to the point it caused groans. I mean, consider all the music out there that can be done. But hey...it has the "n-word" in it...it's edgy *rolls eyes* If they are gonna dust something off they should be a lot of dust. Something from last summer or the previous summer just seems like they filmed it and it's been setting on a shelf. Especially because the people behind the show said they want the audience to feel like this is all happening right now at a high school near you.

Well
They shoot months ahead so it is not possible to do very current hits.Songs like Single Ladies are probably the best they can do. And they need the song writer`s permission. I think most of the singers will not be happy if their own songs were still trying to make the charts and helped to promote their own albums when they need to compete with the very same song by the Glee cast. It is just not gonna happen.
I really don`t understand what is your problem with it though. It is perfectly fine to use hit songs from one or two years ago and give it a new twist. A lot of artists did it.
They really did their best to cover different music genes and to entertain different generations. There are a lot of classics from several decades ago and reasonably current songs. I personally wish they could add in a few hits from mid to late 90s and early 2000s though. Most of my favourite songs are from that period.
Enjoyed and overjoyed
