“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 123 Recap: "Matriarchy"

Cut to the kitchen. Saul is there, probably counting the silverware to make sure it wasn’t stolen by some random McAllister cousin. Milo Peterman taps him on the shoulder to say his goodbyes.

Milo: I bought a little house in Nicholls Canyon. I’d love it if you could come for lunch, or dinner.
Saul:
I’d love to, but my life is very busy right now and…
Milo: Saully, we’re too old for excuses.

Milo puts his meaty paw over Saul’s trembling hand and holds it there meaningfully.

Milo: Call me.

Milo leaves and Saul looks like his world is ready to crash in. I can’t wait until next season to see how this plays out.

We cut back to the party where Kitty and Nora have just gotten back from their trip to the airport. The Walkers all look pretty worn out and ready for the party to be over, but McAllister’s family is even more drunk and unruly than they were earlier. Nora is none too amused that her back yard is being trashed by this riff raff. Who woulda thought upper crust Senator McAllister would have such a motley clan?
Major Weiner: Nora come on! Have a tequila shot with me. You Walkers are all a bunch of party poopers.

This seems to be the last straw for Nora. She starts peeling off her jacket and shoes.

Nora: Last one in the pool is a Major Weenie.

Nora dive bombs into the pool.

One by one, all of the Walkers throw themselves into the swimming pool. Even Rebecca and Holly get into the action. It’s a bit implausible, but altogether a very hopeful and upbeat ending to Brothers & Sisters’ freshman season.

Still, a lot of questions remain unanswered. Among them, will Justin come back from Iraq in one piece? Will Saul renew his relationship with Milo? Will we get to see more of Kevin and Jason making out? I sure hope so.

Brothers & Sisters will return with new episodes in September.

Wet suits

okay was I the only one who noticed that the wet suits kept getting zipped and unzipped magically as the first scene played out?

I love your recaps

I did not start watching Brothers & Sisters until this last episode, and it is all thanks to you Dennis. I would read your recaps and they made the show sound so funny. I finally saw an entire episode, and while not as good as reading your take, the show itself was pretty good. I have since gone on youtube and caught up with the entire season. I love Sally Fields and Rachel Griffiths, but the best storylines belong to the character of Kevin. Not because he is the token gay, but because the actor Matthew Rhys is so good. His facial reactions are hilarious and his storylines are so good. Sure, hooking him up with a minister (who is super hot) is cliche TV, but with Kevin I know it will be fun to watch. Plus, he is the only one that does a convincing job when he is fighting with his siblings. Also, both he (a Brit) and Rachel Griffiths (an Aussie) do an excellent job with US accents. Not an easy thing to pull off. Cannot wait for next season. Thanks for all the laugh out loud moments recapping the show.

Thanks joeyhegele!

Your comment really made my day! Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is my favorite too, although Sally Field comes a close second. I'm curious what the show will be like next year because the show runner, Greg Berlanti, is probably leaving to work on his own show (Dirty Sexy Money)
