“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 123 Recap: "Matriarchy"

Cut to later at the Senator’s offices. Kitty is venting to Jason McAllister about what a nightmare the party is going to be and how she hasn’t yet told her mother she’s moving out. He tells her not to worry about it. The right opportunity will present itself. Just then McAllister walks in and says, “Ten Hut!”

McAllister: Sorry. Sometimes I forget that I’m no longer in the military.

Oh please. It’s hard to imagine pretty boy McAllister ever being in the military. I have greater success imagining him in a Girl Scout uniform.

McAllister: Hey Jason, why don’t you help Nora out with the engagement party?
Jason:
And the connection would be gay person – brilliant party planner?
McAllister:
Tell me I’m wrong.

Jason happily admits he’s a brilliant party planner, and offers to lend a hand.

Kitty: Wow. How come I didn’t get a nice brother like that? How come I got stuck with Larry, Moe, and Curly.
McAllister:
Don’t forget. Jason’s already met Moe.

Har har.

Jason: I’m sure I just met Kevin on a bad day.
Kitty:
No, he’s pretty much always like that. Well at least I’m marrying into a nice, normal family.

Jason and McAllister exchange funny looks. Apparently, their family isn’t as nice and normal as you would imagine.
Cut to a phone conversation between Nora and Kevin. He’s talking to her on his cell while stuck in traffic. On the other end, Nora is trying to put together Tommy & Julia’s nursery room furniture. Nora asks Kevin if he’ll help with the party planning because she’s sort of overextended herself. He agrees but not before rubbing it in. Nora asks him to go check out the downtown banquet hall that she booked online.

Nora: It’s supposed to be rennaissancey.
Kevin:
Rennaissancey?

Sounds a bit like Nora’s sixtieth birthday party theme back in episode 13. Oh wait, that was medieval. I see a trend here. No doubt Kitty’s actual wedding motif will be “industrial agey.”

But back to the scene. Nora asks Kevin to come over tonight to help with calling all the guests. Kevin can’t do it. He’s going to see Wicked with Justin.

Nora: Haven’t you seen it like five time already?.
Kevin:
Six times actually. I know Justin says he hates musicals but after Wicked – everything will change. And guess what, I didn’t have to ask Justin, he asked me. How about that?

There’s something fishy about this and Nora smells it.
