“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 123 Recap: "Matriarchy"

Cut to the kitchen pantry. Kevin is lurking there, drinking a margarita and browsing Nora’s collection of herbal teas or something. Jason comes in and says he’s looking for a bandage – one of his cousins cut himself.

They start sniping at one another. Kevin makes fun of Jason’s family and Jason makes fun of Kevin’s drinking.

Jason: What is that? Like your fourth margarita? Why don’t you just carry around a pitcher.
Kevin:
You didn’t come in here looking for a Band-Aid did you? You came in here looking for me.

Kevin has a really sexy smirk going on. He cocks his head back as if to say, “go ahead, make a pass.”

Ooh, this is actually pretty hot. They start kissing passionately, banging into the pantry shelves. The door is wide open, but no one else seems to notice.

Damn damn damn! We cut away too soon. We switch to a long shot of the party tent where the McAllister family, now completely drunk, are all making fools of themselves: stealing floral arrangements, dirty dancing and the like. The Senator is standing next to Nora taking it all in. He sighs and apologizes.

Nora: You never have to apologize for family. Besides, it’s refreshing to be the tame ones for a change.

McAllister asks if Nora’s still mad at Kitty. She says she’s just mad at everybody at the moment and simply taking it out on Kitty. It’s Justin she’s really upset about. Nora says she refused to say goodbye to him. McAllister tells her a story about how his father died when he was away during the first gulf war. It was just bad luck the way it happened but the point is – he never got to say goodbye and he regrets it.

McAllister: Things happen in war, Nora. If your son wants to say goodbye you should let him.
