“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 201 Recap: “Home Front”![]() Previously on Brothers & Sisters. A 30-second highlight reel of everything that happened to the Walkers last season and hey, if you’re late to the party check out all our recaps from season one. Suffice it to say that stuff happens. Though it is interesting that the very first scene they show in the “previously” montage is Kevin making out with Jason McAllister in the Walker family kitchen pantry. Yay gratuitous gay smooch scenes! Once we’re all done with the montage rehash of last season, we settle down with Momma Nora who’s in front of her computer and webcam. She’s making a “Vmail” for youngest son Justin, who is away fighting in Iraq. Either that or she’s recently discovered the joys of cybersex. (Her blouse seems to be unbuttoned further than decorum would suggest, which makes me think she could have just finished flashing someone via webcam.)
Nora: Don’t you roll your eyes at me! Oh God, she just totally read me from right through the TV screen! Oh wait, she’s talking to Justin. She reminisces about that summer he went away to Camp Lackawanna, which is a Presbyterian bible study camp and seems like a strange place for William and Nora to have shipped off their youngest child. I was sent away to a bible study camp once. I think I would prefer Iraq. But maybe that’s just me. Nora: You were away all summer and I never heard from you. Nora gives her incommunicado son (and by extension, the audience) an update on what’s been happening over the summer with each of the Walker siblings. First up, we get a shot of Sarah at an outdoor playground. She’s still separated from househusband Joe, so it looks like the task of chaperoning Paige and Cooper’s playground play dates now falls to her. Sarah tries to make nice with the other mommies in the park, but she doesn’t seem to have all that much in common with them – she’s not wearing juicy couture, discussing boob jobs (“mommy jobs” they call them), or dispensing all-natural juice boxes. Nora’s Vmail voiceover next mentions that Kevin has been dating Jason McAllister all summer. We then cut to Kevin sitting primly in a pew in church watching his Episcopalian(?) priest boyfriend deliver a sermon. I think maybe us gay viewers have been seriously rooked here. We went from them making out in the pantry to Kevin and Jason being a staid, settled-down churchgoing couple, and we didn’t get to see any of the presumably hot stuff in between. I bet they’re only having sex on the weekends now. What a gyp. I miss the old Kevin. The one that used to pick up lonely GI’s in military bars for one night stands.
