“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 201 Recap: “Home Front”

Kitty goes to the closet and discovers that all her shoes are gone. She freaks. Not to worry Kitty, it’s BOGO week at Payless. Besides, Rebecca didn’t throw out your shoes, she merely boxed them up.

Rebecca tries to make nice and hands Kitty a birthday present which she found in the dresser. It turns out to be the gift Papa Bill gave Kitty from the year before. She’d never opened it.

Kitty: I would really appreciate it if you stayed out of my stuff.

Cut to Kevin’s apartment. Jason walks in and he’s looking all pensive. Obviously, the bishop gave him some bad news.

Kevin assumes the worst – that the bishop told Jason to break up with him. It turns out that Jason is being sent on a mission to Malaysia. Apparently, they like Cheez Whiz just fine over there.

Kevin is all put out wondering why Jason agreed to the assignment.

Jason: You can’t expect someone to just organize his life around you when you can’t even say, “I love you.”
Kevin: Yeah, well, good thing I didn’t because look where I’d be now.

Cut to the cemetery. It’s the anniversary of William Walker’s death and Nora’s come to place a small bouquet of flowers on his grave. Only when she arrives she finds Holly holding vigil over William’s styrofoam tombstone. That’s gotta bug. Nora feels even worse when she notices that Holly’s bouquet is so much bigger than hers. Holly apologizes and says she was just leaving. This would be a perfect opportunity for a little catfight between the two women, but Nora shrugs it off.

Nora: We shared him in life. There’s no reason why we can’t share him now.

Nora mentions that they are going out to dinner for Kitty’s birthday – would Holly like to come and see Rebecca?

Holly: I wouldn’t want to impose.
Nora: Holly, you being here at my husband’s gravesite, that’s an imposition. You sharing a taco with your daughter I can live with.

Just then a beautiful woman in dark glasses carrying an even more gargantuan bouquet comes traipsing up. The woman looks like the Victoria’s Secret model, Stephanie Seymour. Nora and Holly both fear the worst. Is this yet another William Walker mistress?

They both hold their breath as the woman approaches, but then laugh in relief as she passes them by – no doubt to plop her flowers on the grave of somebody else’s dead husband.

Cut to a generic Mexican restaurant. So generic I think it might be a Chili’s or something. Oh Rebecca, this is the best you could do for Kitty’s birthday? If I didn’t know better I’d say you were being passive aggressive. The Walkers are standing around waiting for their table, but it is being held hostage by a rowdy party that seems in no hurry to leave. Worse, Rebecca’s hostess friend has been fired. Looks like it may be a long while before they get seated.
