"Brothers & Sisters" Episode 208 Recap: “Something New”

Cut to Walker Vineyards where Holly in her smart pantsuit is faxing price lists to people.

Enter Tommy. Holly complains to him about having to field phone calls all morning.

Holly: Didn’t we hire Lena to do that?

Tommy says Lena probably got stuck in traffic or something. Holly wonders aloud if maybe Lena and Tommy are “doing that thing you do” where Lena comes in five minutes after Tommy to make it seem like they aren’t bumping uglies in the parking lot.

Tommy assures Holly that he broke it off with Lena. Holly asks him if maybe they need to get a new office manager. I think Holly’s just jealous. Next time around she wants to hire a hot guy so she’ll have someone to chase around the office.

Just then Lena walks in with a box of pastries.

Lena: Tommy, I got your favorites — bear claws.

Oh Lena. Bear claws? It is so time to move on. But clearly the girl still has her sights set on Tommy, because she’s all tarted up in a revealing red mini dress. Like it’s casual Fridays for streetwalkers or something.

The phone rings. Lena answers and hands it off to Tommy. It’s his wife, Julia. Awkward.

As Tommy chats with Julia on the phone, the door opens and surprise! There’s Julia with Baby Cabbage. Oh, the fancy tricks you can do with a cell phone.

Julia: I was gonna call yesterday, but I thought a surprise would be so much more surprising.

Pity you didn’t show up unannounced two nights ago, as you could’ve seen Tommy and Lena exploring their mutual love of bear claws.

Tommy mumbles an introduction between Julia and Lena. Holly looks on, frowning. This is probably all too familiar given her twenty years as mistress to Bill Walker.

Tommy quickly hustles Julia out and doesn’t even look back at Lena.

Holly: (to Lena) You still want the job?
Lena: Yeah.
Holly: Then you might wanna rethink the wardrobe.

While I agree with Holly, considering some of the cleavage-baring getups we’ve seen her in she’s hardly one to talk.
