“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 209 Recap: “Holy Matrimony”

Nora: The Democrats do more for jobs and education today.

Mumbles asks her to define what she means by “more,” but before she can answer he gets a cell phone call.

Bad news. Daniel Kohl’s story contradicting McAllister’s Gulf War heroism is going to hit the Drudge Report in the morning. Mumbles wants to call Kitty and Robert to warn them, but Nora convinces him to hold off until tomorrow.

Nora: It’s their wedding night. At least give them that.

Cut to Robert and Kitty. He’s led her, eyes closed, onto his Gulfstream Jet. It’s festooned with flowers and calla lilies. The engines rev up and McAllister, who just can’t wait for the honeymoon to begin, starts lifting up her dress. She gets all prudish and asks what is he doing — the flight attendant might pop in at any moment. He tells her the crew is under strict instructions not to even come into the compartment. No matter what bloodcurdling screams they may hear.

Cut back to Walker Vineyards. Holly is by herself cleaning up the joint. A strange man who looks suspiciously like Ken Olin from thirtysomething (and now executive producer on Brothers & Sisters) wanders in and snoops around. Holly immediately recognizes him.

Holly: David?

Turns out this David guy knew Holly back from her days as an actress. David seems a bit shifty and down on his luck. For her part, Holly seems suspicious about his just showing up.

He picks up a picture of Rebecca and casually asks who she is, but Holly quickly (too quickly) pulls it away from him.

Holly: Why don’t you tell me why you’re really here?

Fade to black.

Uh oh. Looks like David might have arrived on the scene with some dirt on Holly. What if Rebecca is actually his child and not Bill Walker’s? That’s one way to clear the decks for a Justin/Rebecca romance.

I guess we’ll have to wait until January to find out more.

Is it just me or..

..did Scotty dumped Kevin?

No, no, no, no, no! Come on B&S, they just got back last episode and they didn't even do anything in this one! Gahd I hate it!

And what's up with Holly's boobs?! They're huge! She mus think push-up bra is the greatest invention ever BUT at the end, I noticed she's not wearing any cos it seems she's "cold". lol

No, Scotty didn't dump Kevin.  It was a long, stressful day for both of them.  Scotty realizes Kevin needs time to get completely over Jason.  He patted his (hand or knee) and went to bed.

Scotty has at least two more episodes, probably more.

Where's Jason? Not that I care.

I bet Jason was cheating on Kevin with God. Kidding. Yes, Eric Winter is handsome but I just don't care about his character. Also, having all the action between Kevin and Jason happening over 4 months the audience never saw does not help. What the hell were the writers thinking.

Don't blame the writers

Eric Winter left the show.

I wish they had cast a better actor for that part. But the problem is Jason and his family are losers. Any family that coddles a senator who supports homophobic legislation, I don't want to watch that.

They were thinking that they

They were thinking that they need to get it out of the viewers' heads that Scotty is the one for Kevin. Hence Chad and now Jason. Kevin was never in love with Scotty as much as he has been with Jason. Regardless of whether we saw it on screen or not. The writers know what they're doing.

disappointment

You forgot to mention Saul on your list of people you would want to survive the massacre. Was this intentional?I totally agree on the dress color. My God what were the costume designer's thinking! I have very little fashion sense and even I thought they were hideous. I felt sorry for Rebecca, the dress was seriously unflattering for her figure. I was mad about the Kevin/Scotty scenes. They just got together and the writers are already dooming them. Thanks for nothing. I actually thought it would have been more interesting if Jason had showed up after all (and I don't care for Jason). I was disappointed with this episode.

Saul omission was intended

Hey Raven: You know, I went back and forth on Saul -- I like the actor Ron Rifkin a lot. He was fantastic as Alias' evil Arvin Sloane. But on this show he's pretty much wasted and his big coming out storyline really seems to be getting short shrift. And after they do bring him out, then what? Curious what others think about the Saul character.

I think the story is fine

I don't understand his character's inconsistency in how he acts towards Kevin (friendly one episode, hostile the next), but otherwise, I think this story has been well-paced and unfolded believably. Far more than his stories last season, and much more believably paced than many of the stories this season.

I hope that Ken Olin's

I hope that Ken Olin's character does not turn out to be Rebecca's father. I like her as a Walker. It's time for them to cast a love interest for her. The show has spent the whole season showing Rebecca interacting with her siblings so I hope that plot twist does not happen.
