“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 210 Recap: “Feast of the Epiphany”

Kevin: Why would I do that? He almost broke up with me after the wedding because he’s afraid I’m still into Jason.
Sarah: Are you still into Jason?
Kevin: Who are you, Jiminy Cricket? You’re not my conscience all of a sudden.
Sarah: Maybe all the men in this family could do with a little cricket on their shoulders.

Sarah is no doubt obliquely referencing Tommy’s little extramarital fling. Kevin senses that Sarah might be wise to the whole Lena situation.

Kevin: You know something don’t you?
Sarah: Maybe.

Finally they both come clean that they know about Tommy’s affair. Seems like everybody in the family is going to know about this before the episode is out.

Sarah asks Kevin if he’ll help her get both Justin and Tommy to the dinner.

Sarah: The thing is that Mom knows that something is going on with those two. They’re acting all weird with each other. And now she’s got this big dinner thing Saturday and she wants us all there. Will you talk to them? Tell them all they have to do is turn up, eat, and act normal.

Kevin doesn’t want the assignment, but Sarah explains she’s not supposed to know anything about Lena so she can‘t broach the subject herself. Kevin reluctantly agrees to play mediator.

Cut to Justin and Lena naked on Lena’s red futon. She’s straddling him, and he’s out of breath.

Justin: Five times!

Oh, dream on, soldier boy. Five minutes is more likely. Actually, Justin is talking about how many times Lena’s mother has been married. Clearly Lena does not have the best of role models when it comes to marriage and family.

Justin thinks her life should be the subject of a country western song.

Lena: You mean the one about the guy who sleeps with his brother’s mistress?

Justin seems a little icked out by this description of their situation. Me, too.

Justin: I don’t care that you were with Tommy. You know, he’s the one that was married. He made the mistake
Lena: Then why is that we’re telling everybody that we broke up?

Um, because you’re a big ol’ skank and he’s embarrassed to be seen in public with you? That would be my guess. Justin convinces her that it’s “fun and uncomplicated” this way. Once they let everyone in on their little secret, it gets messy. Isn't that sweet? He's just trying to spare her anymore mess!

Cut to Holly’s house. Holly walks in to find Rebecca sharing coffee and a laugh with David (Ken Olin). Considering she’s never met this man before I’m a little surprised Rebecca even let him in the house. I guess they must not still be showing those PSA's by McGruff the Crime Dog.

Turns out David is a low budget movie director, and he’s telling her old stories about his and Holly’s experiences making crap films. Rebecca is charmed, however, Holly is less than enthused to see David in her living room.
