“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 210 Recap: “Feast of the Epiphany”Cut to Kevin’s apartment. He and Scotty are getting ready for Nora’s family dinner. Oh wait, turns out Scotty is getting ready for a catering gig. Bummer.
While dressing, Kevin gripes about Tommy being stupid. Scotty: Please, let’s not be judgmental. If Jason were to come home tomorrow I’d be back in my Ranchero. Oh let’s hope not. Scotty, I so prefer you to the blandly handsome minister guy — even if you do sometimes become a broken record with all your cater waiter gigs, and cooking school assignments. Kevin gets antsy at the mention of Jason. He still hasn’t told Scotty that the ex-boyfriend emailed him about lunch. He quickly changes the subject.
Kevin: I can’t believe I’m being forced to go to a dinner party
just so Mom can impress a Republican she has the hots for. Here here. I hope this isn’t her new type though — Republican black men. I have no beef with Mumbles, but next week she could bring home Alan Keyes. Cut to Tommy and Julia’s house. Julia is getting gussied up for the family dinner. Tommy tries one last time to get out of the commitment.
Tommy: You know, let’s just blow this thing off. I’ve got a ton of paperwork.
Julia says he should delegate more. Maybe Lena can do his paperwork? Sure, why not. Lena’s done practically everything (and everyone) else. Tommy: She’s busy enough. Julia tells him they promised Nora they’d attend. He can do his paperwork tomorrow. Cut to the Walker mansion where Sarah arrives and checks out the burning paella on the stove. She wants to stir it but Justin tells her not to touch it — the rice needs to be toasted. Kevin arrives. He wants to stir the paella too. Everybody wants to stir the paella. What, is it some sort of metaphor? If so, I’m totally missing the significance.
Julia and Tommy arrive. Ooh Awkward. Tommy and Justin pretend that everything is cool between them. Kitty and Robert show up. Then Nora makes her big entrance.
She’s all pretty in a white blouse and recently dyed hair. The doorbell rings, which means that Mumbles (Isaac) has arrived. Before answering it Nora asks everyone to be on their best behavior tonight. Kitty doesn’t know what her Mom means by that, but everyone else understands that Nora has a thing for Mumbles.
