“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 211 Recap: “Missionary Imposition”

Cut to Jesus Christ talking about video games. Oh wait, that’s not Jesus, but rather a long-locked Iraqi vet at an AA meeting disclosing his latest addiction to Halo 3.

Justin is sitting in on the meeting and seems like he’s the only one who hasn’t opened up to the group. The session ends and the moderator pulls Justin aside to ask why he hasn’t spoken up.

Uh, haven’t we beaten the Justin drug/alcohol addiction and recovery storyline to death already? Honestly, if he starts to backslide and we go down that road again I’m gonna change the channel and start recapping VH1’s Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant.

Cut to The winery where Holly pops into Tommy’s office to lecture him on the danger of workplace sexual harassment lawsuits. Tommy assures her that his relationship with Lena is over, and there is nothing to worry about..

Holly: I hope not, but while I am gone just please go by the book. You leave the door open, you don’t make any comments about what she’s wearing. Nothing suggestive.

Just then Julia pops her perky blonde head in. Uh oh, wasn’t she supposed to meet Tommy at the restaurant?

As they are leaving they pass Lena at her desk on the phone. She is out of sorts because Holly has already left and someone needs to take a meeting with a trucking company that afternoon. This means Tommy will have to stay at the office. Julia pipes up that they can skip the restaurant and just “eat in.” Then she casually asks Lena for takeout menus. I think this is Julia’s way of marking Tommy as her property – she’s so secure in her position that she’s not even bothered that Tommy’s ex-mistress is the office receptionist. It’s a pretty good act. Lena looks miserable.

Cut to McAllister’s LA campaign office. Mumbles is there looking all busy. Nora pops in and pretends like she just happened to be in the neighborhood. What, was she on her way to Compton or something? There’s no way this Pasadena housfrau just happened to be in “the neighborhood” of downtown LA.

Nora asks Mumbles to lunch, but he can’t. She tries to beat a hasty treat, but he stops her.

Mumbles: Em canshelling my entire schedshul fer dis evening. Wood you haf dinner wif me?

Oh Mumbles. When you put it like that….

Nora pretends to check her busy schedule and then agrees. Mumbles will pick her up at 8pm.

Cut to LAX where Sarah and Graham are trotting down the terminal on their way to the plane. Uh, the show should have had these two flying out of Burbank or some other podunk airport, because the fake set they’re using to stand in for LAX looks like it might be an elementary school hallway. But I quibble.

These two are still bickering. Oh get over it. Your “meet cute” has gone on entirely too long – now it’s “meet tiresome”
