“Brothers & Sisters” Episode 211 Recap: “Missionary Imposition”Cut to Tommy’s office where Julia and Tommy are enjoying Mexican takeout. Obviously Julia’s plan is to make Tommy really gassy and thus less appealing to the lecherous Lena.
Tommy asks Julia how she’s enjoying her taco. She says she likes it, but not as much as a fish taco she had at a restaurant in Arizona. Tommy: (Like the biggest idiot in the whole damn world) Did he take you there? Julia gets justifiably indignant and tells him to stop with the jealous act – particularly when his ex-mistress is right outside manning the phones!
Tommy: Hey, you’re the one that suggested we eat here. Brief aside, but the actress playing Julia is really rocking this scene. She has far better acting chops than I ever gave her credit for. Cut to Kevin alone in his apartment preparing for Jason’s visit. He’s gaying, then degaying up the place, which amounts to flipping over a pillow that’s been embroidered with Liza Minnelli’s face.
The doorbell rings, Kevin smoothes his hair and nervously answers. Clearly, whatever lingering feelings he has for Jason, they include wanting to impress the man. He opens the door to find Jason in yet another one of those minister’s collar shirts. He must have lost a lot of weight in the jungles of Malaysia (or the stressful set of Viva Laughlin) because his collar seems two sizes too big.
Cue the commercial break, and when we return Jason is complimenting Kevin on his Liza Minnelli pillow. Jason: Still have this, huh? Awkward silence and then Kevin quickly starts talking about Robert and Kitty’s wedding.
Jason: Yeah I talked to Robert. This gets a stony look from Kevin. He’s disturbed that Jason would be willing to campaign for a politician who voted in favor of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
Jason: Kev, don’t. He’s my
brother. They agree not to talk about politics. There’s another brief, awkward silence, and then who should burst in carrying a big old container soft-shell crabs? Scotty! Oh, this is truly embarrassing; Scotty has horned in on their coffee date. Kevin tries to shoo him away but Scotty won’t be deterred and quickly invites Jason to dinner.
