Glee recap (1.13): "Sectionals"

Okay, the show was back in top form tonight and I'm more bummed than ever that it won't be back until Spring. But we'll have time for public mourning at the end of the recap.

The episode was hitting all the right notes for me from the first scene this week. Rachel, it seems, has noticed that Puck seems overly attentive to Quinn these days. The other Glee kids, who all know that Puck is the baby daddy, don't want Rachel to know because they know she'd tell Finn, which would blow their chances of winning Sectionals.

So they conspire to keep it from her in a fantastically clever split screen scene with everybody talking on cell phones. There are so many delicious little moments in this scene, but my favorite two were, first, how it started off with Mercedes and Tina walking down the hall talking to each other on their phones.

Then, after Artie, Kurt, Santana and Brittany all join in, Santana gets accused of telling everyone about Puck because they're dating. "Having sex doesn't mean you're dating," she replies. To which Brittany adds, "Yeah. If it did then Santana and I would be dating."

First off... OH.EM.GEE! I laughed so hard I had to pause the show. Secondly, I love how everyone pauses for a second to process, then simply shrugs it off and moves on. My favorite moment of an episode full of great moments.

Emma volunteers to take over as faculty advisor to Glee Club. Will is ecstatic. Ken decidedly less so.

Rachel decides to flush Quinn out, so to speak, so she tells her all about a disease that is only transmittable through Jewish descent and suggests she get a full genetic screening done immediately. Of course, Quinn runs right to Puck and asks him to take her for the Jewish Baby Tests ... and there's Rachel, eavesdropping in the background while pretending to read her latest copy of Jazz Hands.

Very manipulative and clever, there, Rachel. I must say, I didn't know you had it in you.
