"Glee" recap (1.22): "Journey"

It's time for the season finale of Glee. Are your tissues ready? I’m betting we’ll need them.

I loved this show from the first episode — but much like any infatuation, as I got to know it better, its flaws began to surface. Still, as we heard over and over throughout the season, I came to love it despite its flaws. As pretty much anyone can tell you, that's a truer love than mere blind love. I don't have to loudly defend the show for being perfect. It's not.

Any writer, or even anyone who understands writing at all, can quickly tell you that. The beauty of it is ... it doesn't have to be perfect. I can poke fun at it, point out its inconsistencies, plot holes, and ridiculousness and still love it for exactly what it is: pure escapist fun.

So how will the finale stack against the rest of the season? Will it be a satisfying end to a sometimes muddled and frustrating season, or will it be one more flaw to add to the list?

We start off with Sue informing Will that she will be a judge at Regionals. He immediately rages into Figgins office, but the principal insists it's out of his hands. Shot! That ... is completely ridonkulous. As Will points out, this is the same woman who leaked their set list to rival schools at Sectionals. She was put on administrative leave for that (before she blackmailed her way back). There's no earthly way she would ever be made a judge.

Quinn is at Will's apartment remembering when Puck seduced her with his sweet talk. He’s hot, but what was girlfriend thinking?

Will has the whole Glee Club over for the first ever Regionals Set List Nomination Party, but the kids are depressed because Sue has promised to crush them. Instead they just want to talk about what Glee Club meant to them. Me, I’d be fantasizing how to kill Sue and make it look like an accident. I’m thinking poisoned pom-poms.
