Project Runway 408 Recap: "En Garde!"On a much more shallow note, I need to ask: What the hell was Heidi Klum wearing? Some kind of puckered asymmetrical nylon blouse that made her look like she put her clothes on sideways and went out without looking in the mirror, that's what.
The runway belonged to Team Fierce, whose couture look was crafted from 45 yards of pale mocha organza that had been cut into a million small circles. It was fitted through the bodice, and flowed out and down into a train, and up and to the left in a face-framing fan of the same material.
Their everyday look was a stunning sleeveless blouse with a ruffled front made from the same organza, and a somewhat blah tan straight skirt. As judge Michael Kors said, "I think that here with Christian and Chris was a perfect example of where a team worked. You had someone with years of experience knowing how to construct dramatic clothes, but then you had someone youthful and plugged into what seems modern and what seems cool." In the shadow of the fierce ones came Jillian and Victorya, but they didn't look or act like runners up. Not at all.
In fact, "fierce" in all its meanings is not a bad word for their punkish trench, slashed below the waist and lined and trimmed in tartan. And their model, with her long faux-hawk, worked that outfit like she'd never worn anything else in her life. If their ready-to-wear dress hadn't been a throwaway little asymmetrical tartan-piped black dress, they might have out-fierced the divas for the win. As for the losers: Ricky and Kit made a hoop-skirted bit of design confusion with a pinafore top for their avant garde design, and another one of Ricky's empire-waisted little mini-dresses for their ready-to-wear. Move along, folks, nothing to see here. Submitted by on Fri, 2008-01-18 13:43. |
