Project Runway 412 Recap: "The Finalists Take to the Tents"

Each competing designer picked a non-competing designer as an assistant, and predictably, Rami and Jillian paired up, as did Chris and Christian – a "Team Fierce" reunion.

Tim came in wearing the skin of a dead cow. (I'm just trying to get real, having been educated about the human hair thing.) Jillian was still looking good, in a little white sweater dress.

They have a somewhat abbreviated three hours to get their models fitted, coiffed, and made up. If I was giving points for hair and makeup, I thought Rami's models looked terrible, with jeweled headbands, minimal makeup, and slicked back hair.

Chris' models won on hair, hands down, especially the little bob on the Goth flapper chick.

The mini-competition is being judged by the regular judges – no guest to offer an element of unpredictability.

Rami's first look was a blue belted coat similar to the gold one he showed Tim in Los Angeles. It was a bit Jillian-esque, as I said before, but it lacked the utter elegance she gave her similar pieces. I loved the sewn-down pleats on the arms, but they were ruined by the gathered wrists and the cape detail at the shoulders.

The model opened the coat to reveal a shiny black dress that looked draped.

Next up was a nothing-special black jacket or shrug with an intricately draped, form-fitting sleeveless black patterned dress under it. This dress was highly commercial and extremely flattering, not just on this model, but on any woman with curves, nice arms and shoulders, and great legs.

Okay, on a model. But still, I thought it was pretty fabulous.
