Project Runway 412 Recap: "The Finalists Take to the Tents"

Last was a strapless evening gown made of what I thought resembled material from the candy challenge. It was some kind of chocolate-colored shiny fabric, and the dress was a bit awkward on the model; she could barely move in it, and I think it had come unhooked in the back. It was beautifully constructed, not very well-fitted below the waist, and got an A+ for drama and craft. And it was as far from draped as you can get, which was, at this stage, essential for him.

Chris' collection was, in his words, "sleek and daring and dark." I guess my punk girl roots are showing, because the black fitted suit trimmed with human hair and safety pins wowed the hell out of me. I'd wear it and you know, it would look great on me, too. Chris, honey, are you listening? Send clothes.

Next was the Goth flapper, in a low-backed dress with a human hair skirt. I loved this as a runway look, but commercial it's not. And yet, it's also not costumey, no matter what the judges said. It's couture, and I loved looking at it.

Last was another black evening gown that the model could barely move in. Hint to both Chris and Rami: the clothes you can't move in are for photo shoots. The runway requires walking. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The dress, however, was magnificently made, and the detailing took my breath away. I preferred it to Rami's dress to look at, although his design would unquestionably be more flattering to a wider variety of women.
