"Project Runway" 6.8 Recap: "A Fashionable New Beginning"

Last night's show opens with, "And now the most talked about season of Project Runway continues on Lifetime...."  Yeah right. Actually, I think PR discussion around the nation's watercoolers has been at an all time low this season.

It's not really Lifetime's or the new producers' fault, or moving the show to LA. The problem is we're stuck with a rather bland crew of designers. No big talents and no big personalities. Probably the most memorable thing about any of the contestants? Logan Nietzel's absurdly bow legs. You could drive a VW through them.

Speaking of Logan, I'm hoping maybe we'll get another shot this episode of him padding around the designer apartments shirtless, but instead the show starts in the ladies' suite where Irina is feeling awfully smug about having won her second challenge. As Logan says in a cutaway interview, "Winning two challenges has really boosted her confidence. She almost feels like she's better than a lot of us."

Well, she sorta is. Smug she may be, but Irina's also clearly the front runner in this horse race.

The designers head to the studio for their meeting with Heidi, who tells them they'll have new models for this week's challenge. Out walks the cast of Real Housewives of New Jersey in bad wedding dresses. Oh wait, it's not the actual Real Housewives of New Jersey, but judging by the looks of this motley crew of ladies, "New Jersey" figures in there somewhere.

Heidi explains that all of the women are recently divorced, and they want to turn their old wedding dresses into hip, cool, fashionable new outfits.

Irina gets to pick her model first, and she chooses the woman with the biggest, poofiest wedding gown – so she'll have some fabric to work with.

Shirin picks last and she's stuck with the model in the absolute skimpiest wedding dress. At least her divorcee has a rockin' bod.
