"Project Runway" 7.14 Recap: Bryant Park!
Tonight’s Project Runway finale begins with one day left until the show at Bryant Park…
Our final three designers, Mila, Emilio, and Seth Aaron find themselves in the workroom, readying themselves for the biggest day of their careers thus far. Each is sizing up the others collections (Mila calls Seth Aaron’s “a glamorous hot topic” and says that Emilio’s brings back memories of a Harlem boutique, circa 1994).
Tim Gunn arrives to check in. He is shocked to discover that Seth Aaron has put together twenty-four different looks. He also has a new hairdo, which doesn’t go over with me and my party-viewing pals. I believe the consensus is “Elmer Fudd mud flaps." But we all love Seth Aaron and pray he’s going to win. Stay tuned…
Emilio and Tim go at in again. Emilio says he’s going to hedge his bets on what the judges will say about his collection, and not rely on Tim’s opinion. Oh the drama that is ESOSA!
Next up: model casting, followed by model fittings, sandwiched between the “commercial” for L’Oreal, i.e., makeup consultation with Collier Strong, and the hair consultation with the guy from Garnier. Mila wants to make her models look “edgier." Emilio is going for a look of “young, fresh, sophisticated, not matronly." Can’t recall what Seth Aaron wants, hair-wise -- so long as it doesn’t involve mud flaps he should be okay.
The next morning, we’re up at the crack of dawn. Seth has woken up late (thanks, Emilio! Just stand there and brush your teeth, why don’t you? Never mind about anyone else. “It’s a competition!”) Funny how the PR designers have to arrive at Bryant Park before everyone else. We assume this is because they’re filming a reality TV program and they can’t get in the way of the real show. But aren’t they the show everyone is really coming to see? (Calvin who?)
