"Ugly Betty" (4.5) Recap: "Plus None"

Last Friday's Ugly Betty kept Marc and Justin on the back burner, so this will be a short recap, but it was a good night for fans of Amanda and Claire.

Like last week there was nothing "bad" about this episode, and the "meh" storylines I've been complaining about suddenly became more intriguing.

Betty is feeling left out after Daniel hires Natalie as his new assistant (and she's definitely taking her new position seriously. She's transformed her look from "goth girl" to "caftan-wearing old widow from Boca".)

Eventually she and Daniel come to terms that they've both moved on (for the better), but it seems that Daniel is going to continue his string of fateful romances ... if Natalie's last scene is any indication.

I also was not looking forward to the Nico murder story, but the show managed to throw me for a loop. A detective shows up with "proof" that Nico was at the scene of the murder and blackmails Wilhelmina to keep his silence.

It soon becomes apparent, however, that things are not how they seem.
