"Ugly Betty" (4.6) Recap: "Backseat Betty"
Let's cut to the chase: This episode was all about Justin and his journey of self discovery, and we'll focus on his scenes in this recap (although if this was a regular recap the stuff with Daniel and The Order of the Phoenix and "Level 5" would get a definite "meh". I could make jokes about the "community" and a certain other cult, but I don't want Anne Archer's son freaking out on me.) Our review of the episode garnered responses ranging from "loved it, the show was beautifully done" to "thanks for wasting my time, AE!", and people seem split between thinking Justin's "I'm not gay" declaration was a cop-out, a troubling development, or one more step in his eventual coming-out. We start with Justin taking Marc's advice to cozy up to the "mean girls" and cheerleaders, hoping it will make things easier for him in the food chain of high school. Unfortunately, he brings up the dreaded word "homecoming" at the breakfast table, which send his mother into a patented Hilda tirade. Helping out the cheerleaders doesn't exactly help Justin with his bully problem, so Marc gives him some advice on how to beat them to the punch. Submitted by on Mon, 2009-11-16 09:03. |
