Ugly Betty Episode 203 Recap: “Betty’s Wait Problem”Cut to Betty putting up “out of office” sign. She notices a package on her desk with a ribbon around it. It’s a sandwich, with a note from Rico that says, “Tried it your way.” She smiles. After all, it’s comforting to know a disgruntled former employee can get into the building bearing a mysterious package anytime he likes. Outside the elevator, she bumps into Henry who apologizes for his drunk bum behavior. Henry: It was shabby and disrespectful. I can only say I’ll never mix wine coolers and my antihistamine again … I wanted you to know I talked to Charlie and she admitted everything. He explains that they’re going to do a paternity test to determine if he’s the father. Is there anyone on this show who actually knows who their father is? It’s like Mode is single-handedly keeping the DNA lab in business. Anyway, they can’t do the test until the 14th week, so until then, he says, “we’ll have to sit tight and wait.”
The elevator door opens and when Henry asks if she wants to go to lunch, he sees the festively wrapped sandwich in her hands. “Looks like you’ve got lunch already,” he says. Is it possible Rico’s long and hot hoagie of love will come between them? We’ll just have to wait and see. Casa Suarez. Hilda assures Betty she’s going to kick ass in her writing class, given how creative her notes to her sister always are. “Hilda, have a ‘splendiferous’ day,” she reads. “See, that’s imagination because I don’t think that’s even a word.” And here’s something else, Hilda. Smiley faces, hearts, and flowers aren’t proper punctuation for small i's. The door opens and in comes Papi. And guess what, he’s not even dead. The Suarez family, at last reunited, happily hug. Awww. It’so cute, it’s sick. Justin Fabulousness Meter (Scale of 1 to 11). 3. I think until this “pleasing dead Dad” arc plays out, the Justin meter’s going to run lower and lower. I understand why they’re doing this whole story with him and I don’t necessarily mind it if it’s ultimately going to reaffirm everything that makes Justin unique. But I wish they’d get it over with soon so Justin can go back to poisoning the competition for the lead in the school play and entertaining subway riders with show tunes and other normal childhood activities.
