How Gay Will Big Brother's All-Stars Be?
by Tabby Lavalamp, July 6, 2006

Bunky Ivette

The best of the best, and some of the worst, are coming back to our televisions and live feeds this Thursday, July 6, on CBS's Big Brother All-Stars. AfterElton.com will be bringing you recaps of all the broadcast episodes and whatever juicy stuff we hear from the live feed grapevine with myself, Tabby Lavalamp, as your lovely and gracious guide to all things queer in the guest house.

Starting back on June 21st, twenty former House Guests hit the campaign trail to drum up votes, as only twelve will be going back into the house. Audience votes will determine six, while the other six make the cut at the whim of the producers. The kicker? The eight that aren't getting a chance to compete once more will not be finding out until it's time to go into the house. Viewer voting ended June 28th, and all the hopefuls are being sequestered in Los Angeles until the season premiere.

If you're new to the Big Brother phenomenon there will be faces you won't recognize. So to help acquaint you with all the hopefuls, I'm please to present you with this handy-dandy guide to the potential Big Brother: All-Stars contestants.

Season 1
"Chicken" George: The first season played differently than all that followed, in that it was the viewers who evicted the House Guests, not the players themselves. That didn't stop our George from going over the edge, giving him the honor to be the first competitor in BB history to have us doubt his tenuous hold on sanity. While he's also the oldest of the potentials, he still has a body only years of soft work and delicious pie can create.

Why we'd like to see him in the house: Season 1 was completely different, so it would be very interesting to see how he'd approach the newer game. Despite his age, that would make him the freshest element of the season. And it'll be fun to see if he goes nuts again.

Season 2
Bunky: Setting the standard for bald, gay men for seasons to come, Bunky was the first openly homosexual contestant the show had seen yet. A very nice guy, he would also cry at anything and everything. Nominate someone for eviction? Here come the tears. Evict a housemate? Turn on the waterworks. But he was also a pleasure to watch, and performed a great feat rarely seen on primetime television. He took the somewhat homophobic Kent and turned him into a lifelong friend. For that alone he's an All-Star.

Why we'd like to see him in the house: If representation alone isn't good enough, he's also guaranteed to bring a lot of emotion into the game and a season of Big Brother without emotion is like peanut butter without jelly. Besides, if he gets in with the openly gay Marcellas and Ivette, we could see the strongest gay alliance since season 4's Four Horsemen.

Dr. Will: As Big Brother's Richard Hatch, Will set the standard for deceit, backstabbing, and underhandedness for seasons to come--and it was fantastic! This is a man who would tell someone he was going to lie to them, then get away with lying to them.

Why we'd like to see him in the house: He's the first major All-Star of the series. He'll also have to change his game dramatically, and that alone should be entertaining. Plus he's hot.

Mike "Boogie": Dr. Will 's sidekick extraordinaire. Mike is every bit as egocentric as his friend and former alliance partner, but without the intelligence, looks, or charm. You just know this guy uses "I was on television once" as a pickup line. For crying out loud, his nickname is "Boogie"!

Why we'd like to see him in the house: He's always taken second place to Will, so he's got something to prove. That could make him a dangerous player and a threat to his friend's plans.
