We cut to the television station where Kitty co-hosts a political newsmagazine. The show is called Red, White, & Blue, and I guess it's supposed to be sort of like Crossfire. With Calista Flockhart involved, I think they should call it: You're So Cute When You're Cross(fire). Just a thought.

Also, I'm wondering if they ever actually go on the air. From what I've seen so far of this show within a show, Kitty and her handsome liberal co-host, Warren, just sit around in the makeup room all day drinking coffee and batting balls of sexual tension back and forth. At least for this episode, a new intern, Amber, arrives to liven things up a bit. The blonde and perky girl excitedly introduces herself to Kitty.

Amber: (to Kitty) You're like totally my role model.
Kitty: Thank you! (soaking it up.)
Amber: Except for, you know, your politics.

Ooh, snap! Kitty got dissed. Amber then brings liberal co-host Warren his coffee. This is the same guy Kitty had dinner and a one-night stand with back in episode 3. Kitty notices Warren flirting with Amber and you can tell it bothers her.

The scene cuts to corporate headquarters of the family business, Walker Produce. You might remember that oldest sister Sara (Rachel Griffiths) took over as company president once her father died. Tommy, Kevin, and even Uncle Saul (played by Ron Rifkin) join her in the conference room. Turns out Kevin set up a meeting with a criminal attorney to figure out what to do about the money their father embezzled from the company. The criminal lawyer cuts to the chase: They have until the end of the year to come up with the 12 million dollars missing from the company pension fund. The question is, where the hell is the 12 million?

We cut back to the house. Nora is clearly regretting the invite she extended to Jonathan. He's commandeered the kitchen so he can make dinner for the family that night. With creepy Jonathan cooking, I half expect to see a pet rabbit boiling on the stove.

We see a bit more of David the contractor (Treat Williams). Earlier it was cork floor tiles, now he is showing Nora blueprints for French doors. We find out Nora and David have mutual friends who are opening a restaurant. The grand opening is the next night and David asks if Nora would like to attend with him. She agrees. Geez Nora, your husband has been dead two weeks and you're already out there on the dating market! You go, girl!

Back on the set of You're So Cute When You're Cross(fire), Kitty gets into it with Warren for messing around with Amber.

Kitty: She's an impressionable intern!

Yeah Kitty, but you've got to admit she's hot. She's basically you, only twenty years younger and with more enlightened politics.

When Kitty overhears Warren 's plans to take Amber out to dinner the next night, she quickly invites herself and boyfriend Jonathan along for a double date. Amber is delighted, but Warren isn't keen on Kitty playing chaperone.

Warren : So what, are you the dental dam of workplace relationships now?”

Thanks Warren. That's a mental image I could have done without. Might be an interesting evening though. You have to wonder how creepy Jonathan is going to feel, since he knows that Warren and Kitty had a one night stand a few weeks back.

Thank goodness, we finally come to a scene between Kevin & Scotty. We are at Kevin's law office and Scotty is on hand for another meeting about that trial he is supposed to be testifying in. Kevin tells him the case has been settled so no need to testify after all. Scotty is disappointed. Probably because now he has no excuse to make unannounced visits to Kevin's office. (Is it me, or do the people on this show do a lot of dropping in unannounced? It's very rude.)

Anyway, Kevin is acting really gruff and dismissive with Scotty. Scotty tries to appease him by apologizing for showing up at the movies with a date.

Scotty: I knew you were hurt.
Kevin: That would imply that I cared!

Wow, that was cruel. Is it just me or is Kevin really behaving like a jerk here? Scotty, at last, grows a pair.

Scotty: You're the one who cancelled on me—to go out with your Mom! So I'm the one who should be offended, and also a little weirded out.

Kevin really can't argue with that logic, so the two make plans for a date the next night.

Hurray! Looks like just about everyone in the Walker clan has a date for tomorrow night.
