Later, as the two are heading for the car, Kevin admits the public kiss bothered him.

Kevin: Some of us were raised in a more reserved world.
Scotty: You're not reserved. You're just tragically tangled up in your own homophobia.

Yay Scotty! Forget about Kevin and his hang-ups. You can kiss me in a crowded restaurant any time you want.

Scotty: The one place you don't feel comfortable and secure is in your own skin.

Uh oh. Scotty might have gone too far. Kevin refuses to argue any more. He just frowns and gets in the car. Their date is ending on a really sour note.

The scene cuts back to the Walker house later that evening. Nora and Kitty are commiserating about their own sour evenings.

Nora: (nursing the beginnings of a watermelon martini hangover) The whole evening is a haze of alcohol and mortification.

Kitty admits her evening was a disaster as well. Her relationship is not working out as she'd planned. Kitty takes the unusual step of asking her Mom for advice. What should she do about Jonathan?

Nora: Just be honest. Tell Jonathan the truth, whatever that is.

Me, I'd probably go with a restraining order, given how creepy the guy is. But Kitty takes her Mom's advice instead. The next day she breaks it off once and for all with Jonathan. Hurray!

Also the next day, Scotty shows up unannounced to Kevin's apartment. This is my favorite scene in the entire episode. Kevin asks Scotty why he's there and Scotty decides to be vulnerable-- wear his heart on his sleeve.

Scotty: The truth is, I like you and I feel completely out of my league. Frankly, I feel like such a loser when I'm with you.

I'm on pins and needles waiting to see how Kevin is going to react. The great thing about this scene is you really don't know in advance how this is going to play out.

Kevin: You were right about everything. Frankly, I'm relieved you're not as evolved as you seem. It can be very intimidating.

Looks like Kevin is finally willing to let his guard down a bit. There's hope for these two crazy kids yet. Cue the heartstring music, because we are treated to the second onscreen gay kiss of this episode! This time Kevin leans in and plants one on Scotty. It's a serious kiss. I mean, I'm not sure, but there might even be some tongue action in there. And Kevin doesn't even seem to mind that they are in the hallway outside his apartment and his next door neighbor is watching them. Clearly, whatever his issues, he is making great strides at being comfortable in his own skin. The scene ends with Kevin dragging Scotty into the apartment, hopefully for a little afternoon nookie!

I can't wait to see how Kevin and Scotty's relationship develops. Check back next week for our recap of Brothers & Sisters episode 6.
