Brothers & Sisters Recaps: Week 12 (page 7)
by Dennis Ayers Page 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 - Home Cut to the Walker mansion. Nora barges into Kitty's bedroom and wakes her with a stack of newspapers--all of which have pictures of Kitty and the Senator on their “date.” Kitty is devastated.
Ahem. Don't be so sure. Nora tells Kitty about her own “date” with Laurence.
Nora makes a resolution to not date men for awhile. Kitty thinks this is a great idea and agrees to join her on this “manfast.” Well, isn't that convenient for McAllister? Everyone thinks Kitty is his girlfriend and now, with this manfast thing, they'll be no other suitor to get in the way. You have your beard all to yourself. At least, until sweeps week. Cut to later in Nora's kitchen. Sara, Tommy and Kevin are present and swapping tales about last night's adventures. Kevin wins this one hands down.
Yeah, like for six more episodes apparently. Julia comes in and everyone else skedaddles so Tommy can make amends with his wife. She apologizes herself. She's lined up Die Hard movies and his favorite Belgian beer. Tommy's off the hook in the sex department. My guess? Julia overheard the advice Nora gave Kitty earlier in the show and stopped by the personal appliance department at Sharper Image. Cut to later at the gym. Kevin walks in and spots Chad. He's all excited smiles, but Chad seems a bit distant – as if nothing actually happened last night up on Mulholland. Suddenly a pretty woman runs up and kisses Chad. It's his girlfriend Michelle. Chad introduces her to Kevin and passes Kevin off as a “bud.” Adding insult to injury, Michelle asks Kevin if he will give up his workout spot beside Chad—she hasn't seen her man in awhile. Kevin, clearly crushed, moves off to find another spot.
What is it with this show and smoothies ? Cut to Senator McAllister's office. Kitty steps into his office clutching the LA Times, with their picture splashed across the lifestyle section.
Kitty picks up on the fact that the Senator doesn't seem to mind the press attention. He's almost happy about it. When she questions him, he says he's glad at least his ex-wife will get to see him on a date with a beautiful woman. That seems to satisfy Kitty and they head into a meeting. Thus ends another satisfying episode of Brothers & Sisters. Before signing off this week I'd like to make a couple predictions about where the Kitty/Senator McAllister storyline is heading. First, the popular wisdom has a romance developing between Rob Lowe's character and Calista Flockhart. As for the promised “serious” love interest for Kevin? Last week the Senator mentioned he had a gay brother—leading most fans to think Kitty will try to set up the brother with Kevin. That is certainly possible, but it's such a straightforward storyline, I find it somewhat lacking in excitement. Why then all the secretive fuss about the casting of Kevin's upcoming love interest? Here's what I think might happen. And it's not really a spoiler because I have no inside knowledge on the subject – only a hunch. I think the Senator's brother will show up around sweeps week in February. He might be played by Dan Futterman (I've read a few Brothers & Sisters fansites that mentioned him as a possibility.) Kitty will indeed try to fix up the Senator's brother with Kevin, but we will discover that the brother is not, in fact, gay. That was a casual lie the Senator told to convince Kitty he wasn't a homophobe and that she should come work for him. Actually, the brother will be romantically interested in Kitty. It's a romantic comedy of errors and, when it is finally resolved, Kevin gets paired up with the Senator and Kitty gets paired up with the brother. Another less likely scenario? The brother shows up and we discover he and the Senator are identical twins! Rob Lowe plays both parts. (Okay, that one is pretty outlandish but at least it allows the Brothers & Sisters producers to get their money's worth out of Lowe's special guest star stint!) I guess we'll have to wait and see how all this plays out. I, for one, can't wait. |
