Cut to later in Kitty's closet. (This seems to be where all the cool people hang out.) Kevin, Tommy and Kitty are getting further sloshed on their hidden stash of wine.

Kevin: That was some serious drama tonight.

Sarah: Oh, whatever! At least your asses weren't plastered over a plasma TV.

The siblings reflect a moment on what a monster grandma Ida seems to be and drink a toast to Nora for turning out pretty cool considering. Just then, Justin opens the closet door and spies his sloshed siblings.

Justin: Wow! And I'm the one in rehab!

Cut to the guest bedroom. Ida is packing her bags. Nora comes in and begs her to stop. She tells Ida she knows that she never liked William but she wants her mother to know that, whatever their problems, they had a good marriage.

Ida: I know.

Nora is surprised by this admission. Ida goes on to tell her that her own marriage wasn't a good one.

Ida: When I looked at yours I could see a difference.

Nora: Why didn't you leave?

Ida: Well, you and Saul! And I didn't want to be alone. I realize now that I am anyway.

Ida breaks down and admits that she actually wanted to come to William Walker's funeral, but she'd said so many bad things about him through the years that she didn't think Nora would want her there. So she made up the Bahama cruise to give to give Nora an easy way out for not inviting her.

Ida pulls out a birthday gift and gives it to her daughter. It's a framed baby photo of Nora.

Ida: You were so beautiful. Even as an infant. There wasn't a day I didn't hear someone say you looked like a Sears Roebuck doll.

Nora : (touched) Thanks, Mom.

Ida: Nora you must have done something right. You've got a house full of children. If I didn't call Saul on Sundays, I don't think I would ever hear from either one of you.

Nora: That's not true. I'm glad you came.

We cut to the party downstairs. Nora is blowing out her candles. The way things have gone so far tonight, I half-expect a spark to land on the drapes and burn the whole house down. Do you think anyone would risk their life to save Ida? Maybe our perfect Senator would.

Cut to Kevin's apartment the next morning. Kevin is still in bed and Chad Berry is there. He's made coffee. He gives Kevin his cup and kisses him.

Wow! That's the second gay kiss of the episode and the second time we've seen the two of them in bed. If you remember the conniptions some folks went into when thirtysomething dared to show too men in bed this is great stuff. Kudos to Brothers & Sisters for throwing in all the arguably gratuitous man-on-man smooching. By doing it so often and with so little fanfare, they are probably desensitizing Middle America to it; turning it into something old hat and not very noteworthy. That's great really but still, in my book, worthy of at least a little note. I love this show!

Chad asks about last night's party.

Kevin: It was sort of like this huge family meltdown. Only fun. Oh, Senator McAllister was there.

Chad : No kidding. His brother is gay you know.

Yeah, we know already! We've been hearing about this guy for the last three episodes. When is he going to make an actual appearance?

Chad: He cruised me once at the gym.

Well, darn. The second part of my prediction (that McAllister's brother will actually turn out to be straight and then paired with Kitty) seems to be getting shot to hell tonight as well! Looks like I'm 0 for 2.

Chad gets a cell phone call. He tells whoever he's talking to that he's just “at some friend's house.” You can tell that this description bothers Kevin.

Chad: Sorry about that.

Kevin: I'm not used to being this guy. I've always been the one with intimacy issues.

Kevin tries to get up and then starts to heave. Apparently he's caught the same stomach flu that plagued Sarah.

Chad: Bro' you okay?

Kevin: Okay, first thing, let's retire “bro” from the bedroom. Second….

Kevin rushes off to the bathroom to hurl.

Cut to the Walker Mansion. Nora is on the phone with Tommy. Apparently he, too, is sick. She tells him to come over and she'll take care of him. She's already nursing Kitty and Kevin. Kevin joins her in the kitchen. He's wrapped up in a blanket and looks awful.

Nora: Tommy's got it too. How's Kitty?

Kevin: She's not moving. We all spent too much time in the closet.

Kevin asks Nora how she feels. Nora admits she's better now that Ida's on her way to the airport. Just then Saul arrives. Nora thanks him for sticking up for her against Ida.

Nora: You're a good big brother. I couldn't pick a better person to know for every chapter of my life.

Cut to the living room. Kitty, Tommy, and Kevin are cuddled up in blankets on the couch.

The doorbell rings and Nora opens it to find Senator McAllister bearing soup. Kitty hides behind the door and gestures for Nora to send him away. She doesn't want McAllister to see her indisposed.

The Senator hands Nora the soup and thanks her for including him in the family gathering last night.

McAllister: And one more thing. Please tell Kitty to let me know when she's ready to go shoe shopping again.

So, by that I guess McAllister is actually disclosing that he wants to get romantic with Kitty. Either that or he literally wants to go shoe shopping. (Okay, grasping at straws here.) Nora brings the soup back to her kids, and she watches over her sick brood as they eat.

hus ends another great episode of Brothers & Sisters.
