As
for Christian Campbell’s portrayal of Peter,
Daniel’s gay son, it was neither here nor there.
Not to be too shallow, but I couldn’t get past
that bad hair of his.
Emily’s
Reasons Why Not also debuted. Khary Payton
plays the titular gay best friend. His role wasn’t
any better than Christian’s, but his hair was
infinitely superior.
As
for Crumbs,
which premiered last night, it might not be the next
My Name is Earl, but nor was it The Book of Daniel.
In fact, between the great Jane Curtin, some darkish-edged
writing, and the always appealing Fred Savage playing
one of the few openly gay lead character’s on
television, I’m definitely going to keep watching.
COLIN
FARRELL’S BEST PERFORMANCE IN YEARS!
At least that’s what those who managed to check
out poor Colin’s sex tape had to say before
the website showing said tape shut down. Hollywood
likes a star who can open a movie and Colin certainly
did that. For days the web was frantic with gay men
and women who wanted to see Colin, er, performing
with Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain. So great was
the demand that the servers supporting the website
couldn’t handle it and crashed. (Colin can only
pray his upcoming flick, Brave New World,
does half that well.) Colin and Nicole continue to
wrangle in court over who owns the rights to the tape.
As for me, I think I’d just as soon go see Brokeback
again. I’ll take a shirtless Jake over a grainy
Colin any day.
MUSIC
WITH A TWIST
This week Sony announced the launch of an all GLBT
music label. (Insert your own Madonna and Cher joke
here. It’s late and I’m tired!) Also set
to go is syndicated radio show, Twist, a weekly two
hour radio program featuring music, interviews, and
a variety of other queer friendly content all presented
in a “morning show” format. Sources tell
me Gene Shalit applied to be the movie critic, but
didn’t get the job.
BUT
WILL THEY BE SHOWING COLIN FARRELL’S SEX TAPE?
Google Video announced they have partnered with Here
TV to bring the eager masses Here’s programming.
“Making Here content available via Google Video
is part of our ongoing effort to expand the options
for thousands of viewers to access Here however, whenever,
and wherever they want,” said Here Founder and
CEO Paul Colichman. Fine, but can I download on it
onto my IPOD? Because my IPOD is, you know, my life.
THAT’S
WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION
Frankly, any information about Star Jones and hubby,
Al Reynolds, is too much information for me. But Star
had to go and write Shine, all about the journey that
led her to Al’s arms. It’s also a testimonial
to how gay Al is not. “The first time he held
me in his arms sexually, it was almost frightening
because we knew our erotic interest in each other
could take over every other thing.” Including,
apparently, good taste and common sense. Methinks
the lady doth protest too much. But, hey, that’s
her business, not mine. Now if only she understood
that.
BE
NICE TO GAY PEOPLE. AND READ TO YOUR SNOT-NOSED BRATS.
General Hospital stars Ben Hogestyn and Lindze
Letherman are appearing in public service announcements
running this month on ABC. The ads
will promote tolerance and understanding of LGBT people.
Not coincidentally, General Hospital is running
a gay story line on the soap. Presumably, it’s
chock-a-block full of tolerance and understanding.
Expect wingnuts to start phoning in death threats
at any moment.
Now
I’ll shut up so you can have the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER!
That's
it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new
installment of Best. Gay. Week. Ever., or read previous
