I'LL HAVE AN ORDER OF BROTHERS & SISTERS, AND A SIDE OF FRIES, BUT I'LL PASS ON THE HELP ME HELP YOU
Matthew Rhys)ABC announced this week that they're ordering a full season of Brothers and Sisters. Even better, show-runner Greg Berlanti told TVGuide.com's Michael Ausiello that Kevin (Matthew Rhys) wouldn't be falling victim to gay eunuch's disease and be the only one on the show without a romantic life. Berlanti promised Kevin would be as fully fleshed-out a character as any of the other Walkers and that, in fact, romance was in the air for Kevin and Scotty (Luke MacFarlane). I thought it was a good sign last week when Kevin told his mother Nora (Sally Field) he really didn't like giving up his personal life to hang with her. Hooray to ABC for picking up Brothers for a full season and for letting Kevin be a full-fledged gay man.

Neither The Class nor Help Me Help You has yet been picked up for a full season. Judging from the ratings and what I'm reading, Help Me won't be making the final cut. Speaking of Help Me, was anyone else troubled by all the time Jonathan (Jim Rash) spent hanging out in the locker room of his gym obsessing over who wasn't wearing towels in this week's episode? I know it was mostly a cheap way for the show to cash in on the naked-men-in-the-showers craze sweeping the networks (see Nip/Tuck and Grey's Anatomy). But in my mind it seemed to reinforce the creepy idea that locker rooms are loaded with gay guys (or on Help Me, gay guys who don't know they are gay) perving on the innocent straight guys. Thanks, but no thanks.

MCDREAMY, MCSTEAMY , AND. ..MCHOMOPHOBE?
Isaiah WashingtonThe internet buzzed this week after The National Enquirer and New York Daily News broke the story of a fight on the Grey's Anatomy set. Supposedly, the tussle erupted when Isaiah Washington got peeved some of his co-workers were being less than punctual. Then Patrick Dempsey apparently tried to calm Washington down only to have Washington grab him by the throat and say. “I'm not your little faggot like (name deleted).”

So if this is true, Washington either potentially outed a colleague or decided that “faggot” was an appropriate word to convey the depth of his anger over the issue of tardiness. ABC has nothing to say about the matter while Washington's publicist said, “Differences are inevitable. They were aired, resolved, and everyone has moved on.” Dempsey's spokeswoman added, “There was an argument on set. In any close knit family, sometimes people argue. But everybody made up and went back to work.”

Maybe Dempsey and Washington air-kissed as well. I'm just all warm and fuzzy that the Grey's Anatomy family is happy again, but it seems to me there is still the little matter of Mr. Washington's use of the word faggot. Would this really be the end of the story had, say, Dempsey told Washington (who is African-American) that he wasn't “ Washington's little N-word”? I don't think so. Methinks Mr. Washington ought to publicly apologize for using the word.

UPDATE: T. R. Knight who plays George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy told People Magazine yesterday he is gay. Presumably he is the one Isaiah was referring to with the word “faggot”. We've got the whole story here.
