FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE
Cross and Burroughs from Running with Scissors

Running with Scissors
opens wide today. Check out our review to see if it's your cup of tea. And on DVD Vacationland is yours to take home. There may not be much to watch on DVD this week, but Universal just announced there is going to be a two disc collector of Brokeback Mountain released on January 23rd. No word on what the DVD's extra features will be.

I'm sorry to say CBS ordered more episodes of The Class. It hasn't yet been picked up for the entire season, but networks don't particularly like throwing good money after bad so it's likely The Class will be sticking around a while. And that's too bad because frankly I think the show has become offensive. Kyle (Sean Maguire) is a fine gay character and it's especially nice to see a normal gay relationship on television. It's the character of the supposedly straight Perry Pearl (Sam Harris) who has got my knickers in a twist.

When The Class debuted, CBS swore up and down that Perry wasn't a gay character and the joke was that he was a non-stereotypical straight guy.

Hey, I think breaking down stereotypes is great and the idea of a straight guy who is into fussing over his daughter and taking care of the house is to be applauded. But I don't know of any straight guys who get all hot and bothered when a hunky gay guy enters the house and then make a point to ogle his tush as drool all but falls from his mouth.

On top of that, the show makes Harris say embarrassing double entendres that are clearly meant to imply he's gay. At one point he tells his wife not to be insecure about her bra size because they both know he's an "ass man". Ha ha.

Closeted gay men married to unsuspecting women are so funny. Just ask both of Jim McGreevey's ex-wives.

Since I was in New York I didn't get a chance to see Help Me Help You (darn!), but USA Today eviscerated this week's episode. Carlos flew under the radar on Top Chef and will be around next week. Speaking of Bravo, the network is expanding their "Top" franchise with Top Hair and Top Designer. I can't wait for Top Maid and Top Sanitation Worker.

In all our talk of openly gay actors I overlooked Tony Tripoli who is on Fashion House with Bo Derek and Morgain Fairchild. The show airs Monday thru Friday and is reportedly quite funny.

Bully video gameA couple of weeks I linked to a site called GayGamer.net. While in New York I got to meet the site's founder, Flynn De Marco, who had lot of interesting things to say about video games and the gay guys who game. In fact, he was so interesting we're going to have an interview with him next week. In the meantime, you might want to check out this video which Flynn put together from a new video game called Bully. Turns out you can get four of the male characters to make out with you by giving the right presents and using some sweet talk. (Don't ask me--all I play is Madden '06.) I think it's great the game not only includes the same-sex smooching, but doesn't treat it as an icky joke. Heck, I half-expected one of the guys to choke the other while yelling "I'm not your little faggot!"

And if you're looking for something to read, Reichen Lehmkuhl released his new book this week, Here's What We'll Say. Queerty landed an interview with the reality star Lance Bass other half wherein Reichen explains the book was part therapy and part expose about the military's shameful treatment of gay servicepeople. It was quite a bit worse than just calling them faggot which does help keep things in perspective.

And on that cheery note I'll shut up so you can have the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER!

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Gay. Week. Ever., or read previous installments here.
